Tyrese Haliburton has been nothing but brave over the past few days. The Indiana Pacers guard struggled with an injury to his right calf that cost his team precious minutes in the Game 5 loss. However, he wore leg sleeves to help with the injury and played in Game 6.

In that game, he produced a stellar performance in the nearly 23 minutes he was on the court. He was instrumental in helping the Pacers blitz the Oklahoma City Thunder in the second quarter, which sealed the deal and forced Game 7.

The Pacers held the psychological edge after embarrassing the league’s best team. Many felt this swing in momentum was going to give the East champions something to build on when they took to the court in front of a sea of Oklahoma City fans.

Midway through the 1st quarter, Haliburton and his teammates seemed to be doing that as they streaked into the lead and looked driven to win this game at all costs. A couple of minutes later, the Thunder were back in front after figuring out how to combat the Pacers’ defense.

At around the 5-minute mark, the ball was in Tyrese Haliburton‘s hands. After surveying the Thunder defense, he tried to take off to the left, and as he charged off his right foot, he instantly went crashing to the floor. The point guard tried to get the ball off and started banging the floor as he writhed in pain.

The 25-year-old was wailing in pain as doctors and teammates surrounded him. Eventually, they had to help him off the court, as he could not put any pressure on that right leg. It seems he is done for the night on the biggest game of his life.

Basketball fans were stunned by this injury as they had witnessed Tyrese Haliburton brave it out for the most part so far. They were also shocked at the turn of events as the Indiana Pacers guard was on a heater, scoring 9 points in 7 minutes.

It seemed as if he was on a mission to end all the doubts some had. However, that will not happen, at least for this Game 7, as there is no chance he will return after screaming in that much pain. LeBron James, Trae Young, Jalen Brunson, and other NBA stars, along with fans, took to social media to send prayers to Haliburton. Check out examples of those reactions below.

The Indiana Pacers are a resolute team that is strong when playing as a team. The Iowa State star might be their most visible star, but the team knows how to play without him and is tied at the half. Pacers fans will hope that the rest rally around each other to finish the job Tyrese Haliburton started.

Tyrese Haliburton’s possible injury adds to the NBA’s headache

This generation of the NBA is more skilled, athletic, and way faster than the eras past. To be that way, these players go to extreme lengths, pushing their bodies to the limit. Tyrese Haliburton’s father, John Haliburton, confirmed that his son has indeed torn his right Achilles. It would be the 3rd such injury in these 2025 Playoffs alone.

Commissioner Adam Silver had earlier stated with his chest that the league does not need to shorten its 82-game season. He believed most player injuries were at the start of the season, and felt that the postseason was in good shape.

If there is a postseason to understand the rigors of that gruelling regular season, Silver need not look any further than this one. Be it LeBron James, Anthony Davis, Austin Reaves, Stephen Curry, Jimmy Butler, Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown, Karl Anthony-Towns, Damian Lillard, and now the Indiana Pacers’ star.

All of those injuries, along with the several other bumps and bruises others suffered, should be a wake-up call for Silver and his executives. Without these players in the later stages, the ratings had dropped significantly. Now, with some of them out for much of the initial stages of next season, those ratings could continue to suffer.
