Novak Djokovic is aiming to win his 25th Grand Slam at the Wimbledon Championship, which starts on June 30. The Serbian has won the grass-court Grand Slam seven times in his career and has been to the final of the last two editions. Former ATP player Feliciano Lopez reveals the 38-year-old possibility of winning the All England Club title.
Djokovic revealed on social media that he has already arrived at Wimbledon as he prepares for the tournament. The 38-year-old has lost some of his prominence in the major tournaments and he hasn’t won a Grand Slam title since the 2023 US Open. However, he has managed to reach the 2024 Wimbledon final.
The Serbian legend has won the Wimbledon Championship seven times, just one behind Roger Federer’s record. He won the title four times in a row between 2018 and 2022, apart from 2020, which he didn’t play due to the COVID-19 pandemic. After that, he reached the final in 2023 and 2024, losing to Carlos Alcaraz.
The former World No.1 currently has 98 victories at Wimbledon and has the opportunity to become the first player in history to reach the mark of 100 wins at the tournament, trailing behind Federer’s 105. Should he win the title, he would equal Federer’s feat and then increase his Grand Slam tally to 25 titles.
He will be fresh off a good campaign at the Roland Garros, where he lost to Jannik Sinner in the semi-final. Despite not playing in any warm-up tournament, Djokovic will be eager to win Wimbledon. During an interview with Sky Sports, Feliciano Lopez weighed in on the Serbian chances of winning the title:
It’s hard to say whether this is Novak’s last opportunity because with Novak you have to be aware of what you say about him. He’s not at the level of Carlos and Jannik, especially in the last 18 months, because the numbers speak for themselves, but the way he played against Sinner surprised me. He challenged Sinner and pushed him to the limit, and although the gap is still big, I see the grass as the only place for him to get to this level that they play because the grass is very different.
Former Spanish player says Jannik Sinner can play his best tennis on grass
Jannik Sinner is yet to bounce back from his Roland Garros final defeat against Carlos Alcaraz. The Italian star could well be suffering somewhat of a mental hangover heading into the SW19, but the reality he remains the toughest player to beat on tour. He recently lost to eventual Terra Wortmann Open champion Alexander Bublik in the second round.

It was the first time, he lost to a player other than Carlos Alcaraz since August last year. During the aforementioned interview, Feliciano Lopez revealed that Sinner can play his best tennis on the grass court ahead of Wimbledon:
I think so, yes! His movement on the court is out of this world. To play on grass you need good movement and he’s probably one of the best movers on court right now. He has the movement, he has the serve, he has one of the best returns I’ve seen, so yes! He has almost everything.
Sinner’s best run at the Wimbledon Championship was in 2023, when he reached the semi-finals. The Italian star has also reached the quarter-finals of the grass-court Grand Slam for the last three years. However, he’s yet to reach the final
