The 2025 NASCAR series season marked history with the first ever Mexico race, that was hosted at the iconic Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez. The success of the event, just like NASCAR’s impressive Chicago Street race that debuted in 2023, has inspired some in community to call for new venues. Hendrick Motorsports’ Alex Bowman has shared the same feelings recently.
The eight times Cup Series race winner recently appeared in the Chasing Checkers with Chase McCabe show and was asked about the changes as well as evaluation to the 38-race schedule of the sport. Alex Bowman is one of the few racers in the sport that wants new places or tracks that to be introduced to the sport, as there are some events that have been pretty stale for a long-time.
I think that’s a really good thing. I think our schedule was the same for so long that I guess you could say it got a little bit stale. So, I think just continuing to change it up, go to new places, kind of rearrange it a little bit, I think it’s a really good thing.
Alex Bowman said via Chasing Checkers with Chase McCabe.
Further talking about the point, the No:48 Chevy driver asserted that it’s not right that the sports go twice to 15 tracks every year and there needs to be more venues added. There are multiple tracks in the USA itself that are currently being overlooked that has the potential to produce some entertaining events.
Hopefully, we continue to add more new places going forward. I think that’s important for our sport to go to new places and not go to the same 15 tracks twice a year forever, right? Like we want to go to different places and kind of change it up. There’s so many great racetracks in the country and around the world. So, there’s definitely a lot of cool places that we can go race.
Alex Bowman added.
Recently there has been some rumors about a potential San Diego race in the near future and many in the racing community is looking forward to having the event. Alex Bowman will surly be one of them considering he is an advocate for new venues as well as the fact that he has historically been good at road courses and street races.
Alex Bowman reveals lingering issues from his Nashville crash
The HMS driver has been going through a tough time recently following an injury he suffered owing to a wild crash at Nashville. Going into the Mexico City race he couldn’t even properly walk for a day before the event, but still secured a P4 finish. But after the race, he still was in pain for sometimes and he isn’t fully back to his best yet.

He shared about his health progress ahead of the Pocono weekend where he admitted that last week’s race was the worst in terms of pain for him and admitted that the sourness was still annoying them the latest weekend as well. Bowman now can do all the normal activities, but os limited when it comes to sporting activities.
There were times last week that it was the most pain I’ve ever had through anything. Last week was the worst for me, but this week is a little bit annoying, so way better than I was last week. It’s not like I’m running right now or squatting right now, but other than that, I can mostly do everything that I would normally do.

The comments from the Chevy drivers shows the resilience of Bowman as a person and as a racer, challenging for wins through pain. It would be interesting to see how everything us going to playout for the star drivers in the coming years.
