Roger Federer will be at this year’s Wimbledon as well. The tournament starts on June 30 and Federer, who was here in 2023 and 2024, has planned a comeback this year as well. Novak Djokovic, the only member of the Big 4 yet to retire, will be chasing his second title of the season.
Of course, Federer won’t be actually competing, given that he hung up his racket at the 2022 Laver Cup. During an interview with TNT Sports, the Swiss maestro said that although he is unsure about Rafael Nadal and Andy Murray, he will be at SW19.
I probably will go to Wimbledon, but I don’t know if Rafa will be there during the tournament. We will see Novak in the draw, while Andy will probably be at the facilities.
Djokovic, in the grass-court Major, will be bidding to tie the tally with Federer with eight titles. The Serb will also be chasing his historic 25th Major which has eluded him since 2024.
The last time Djokovic won at Wimbledon was in 2022 by beating Nick Kyrgios, while the last Major he lifted was the 2023 US Open. Djokovic had reached the Wimbledon final last year but lost to Carlos Alcaraz for the second consecutive time in the tournament’s final.
Gilles Simon claims fans started to like Rafael Nadal when Novak Djokovic arrived on the tour
Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal turned pro in 1998 and 2001, respectively, and by the time Novak Djokovic lifted his first Major at the 2008 Australian Open, the now two retired players shared 15 Grand Slam titles between them. According to former World No.6 Gilles Simon, the crowd preferred Federer to Nadal and only started to like the Spaniard when Djokovic came.

If you remember, Roger was the crowd’s favorite, perhaps the most popular player of all time, and most people didn’t like Rafa when he started. They started to like him when Novak came along. I’m 100% sure of that! They started to like Rafa when they stopped comparing him to Roger but to Novak.
Gilles Simon told Sportklub
Nadal hung up his racket in last year’s Davis Cup after Spain lost their quarterfinal tie to the Netherlands. The last Major he lifted was the 2022 French Open, while Federer’s last was the 2018 Australian Open.
Novak Djokovic lifted only the Geneva Open this year
Djokovic is not playing consistent tennis as in some tournaments he is making deep runs, while in others, he is losing in the early rounds. This year, twice he registered three consecutive defeats, including back-to-back ones in Monte Carlo and Madrid.

The 38-year-old then played the Geneva Open just before Roland Garros, ending the tournament as the champion by beating Hubert Hurkacz. This made him the third man to capture 100 or more singles titles after Jimmy Connors and Federer.
He had also played in the Miami Open final but lost the title to Jakub Mensik. In Grand Slam events this season, Nole was forced to retire mid-match against Alexander Zverev at the Australian Open.
At the French Open, eventual runner-up Jannik Sinner ended his run in the semifinals. Djokovic then did not play any warm-up tournament before Wimbledon.
He will be the sixth seed at Wimbledon. Many believe the tournament at SW19 is the last chance for Djokovic to win his 25th Grand Slam title.
Since 2018, he has reached every Wimbledon final, winning from 2018 to 2022, but losing in the last two seasons to Alcaraz. In 2023, Alcaraz ruined Djokovic’s Calendar Slam goal with a five-set win. Djokovic is the last player other than Alcaraz and Sinner to win a Grand Slam title.
