On Wednesday, Collin Morikawa was involved in another heated moment with the media. The 2-time major champion sounded off on a reporter following the switch of his caddie.

Ahead of the 2025 Rocket Classic, it was announced that Morikawa will not have Joe Greiner as his caddie. This came as a shock to many as the two of them had just joined hands recently and did manage to make the cut in all 5 events.

Golf reporter Adam Schupak would publish this news and include a quote from Morikawa. The golfer had requested him to ask regarding the caddie switch in the press conference, and not during the Pro-Am.

During the press conference later on, the reporter got the chance to ask this question. The World No.5 golfer would speak out regarding this and politely confronted the golf insider regarding this report and the quote he used. As per Morikawa, the quote he used gave off a negative image of him.

I’m not here to tell people how to do their jobs, but I don’t get why you would make me sound bad because you put out my quote that I was playing with Pro-Am partners out front. And for you to put out a quote like that to put me down and saying, hey wait 2.5 hours. I’m not going to tell you how to do your job, you can write whatever you want – this is America. But don’t put me down like that.

After Schupak cleared that he was trying to give him credit, the golfer smiled and claimed that he perhaps then did not read it from that perspective.

This year, Morikawa has been under the spotlight regarding his relationship with the media. After losing in the final stages of the Arnold Palmer Invitational, the golfer refused to speak with the reporters and walked out of the event.

This led to many top insiders slamming him. However, the golfer stood by his ground and continued to defend himself from walking out of the event without attending the post-round interview.

Speaking of Morikawa’s new caddie, the golfer will have his former college teammate, KK Limbhasut. He though, will be the golfer’s caddie for just this one week.

Golf insider backs Collin Morikawa’s answer during Rocket Classic press conference

Collin Morikawa on Wednesday did not hold back from expressing that he did not like the article by Adam Schupak. While this comment from the golfer received mixed reactions from golf fans, a golf insider seemed pleased with this.

While reacting to this on X, Dan Rapaport claimed that there was ‘zero’ problem with the answer from the golfer. He even seemed to have taken a subtle jab at Rory McIlroy.

Zero problem with this from Collin…he didn’t like something that was written about him, he told the guy who wrote it his feelings, didn’t raise his voice…much prefer this over some canned non-answer!

Just like Morikawa, McIlroy has also been under fire for his actions against the media. The Northern Irish golfer was one of them who had defended Morikawa for walking out of the Arnold Palmer Invitational without speaking with the media after suffering a heartbreaking loss.

The 5-time major champion has also refused to speak with reporters after a round several times. He received immense backlash from the golfing community after declining interviews on all 4 days of the PGA Championship.

Who is Collin Morikawa paired with during the 2025 Rocket Classic?

This week, the PGA Tour stars will make a trip to Detroit for the 2025 Rocket Classic. Fresh off after the final signature event of the year, some top names will once again hustle in this upcoming event. Collin Morikawa is one of them who will be playing and hoping to end his winless run.

Morikawa, who last won during the 2023 Zozo Championship, is in desperate need of a win. This week he will get the chance to do that again as he tees off at the Rocket Classic.

For the first two rounds, he has been paired with Patrick Cantlay, who, like him, wants to end a long winless run, and Keegan Bradley, who, recently, shocked the golfing world with a victory at the Travelers Championship. This trio will tee off at 7:29 a.m. ET.

Unlike last week at the Travelers Championship, the Rocket Classic does feature a cut. This means that after the first two rounds, several golfers will leave the field empty-handed.
