UFC 317 became a milestone event for Ilia Topuria as the Georgian-Spanish star captured his second prestigious UFC championship title. In the thrilling main event, Topuria demolished Charles Oliveira in the very first round to secure the vacant lightweight belt impressively. Following his dominant victory, Topuria engaged in an intense faceoff with contender Paddy Pimblett, teasing a potential future mega fight.
Going into the fight, as always, Topuria boldly predicted he would knock out Oliveira in the first round and delivered exactly that. While discussing his next title defence with Joe Rogan, Topuria confidently called out his old rival, the ‘Blonde B**ch’ Paddy Pimblett. The Scouser finally stepped into the octagon and engaged in a heated faceoff with the newly crowned UFC lightweight champion.

Initially, Pimblett credited Topuria for his incredible win, but things quickly escalated as insults started flying from both sides. Topuria immediately warned the UK native about their potential fight and aggressively pushed him back, forcing officials to intervene and separate them. The bad blood between Topuria and Pimblett dates back to their heated hotel lobby altercation in London, where both almost started fighting.
Their rivalry has only intensified over the years, with fans now eagerly waiting for a grudge match promising absolute fireworks. Reports suggest the potential fight could happen in the UK or Spain, as the UFC has long targeted a Spanish event. With recent victories over Max Holloway, Alexander Volkanovski, and now Oliveira, Topuria has become the biggest superstar on the current roster.
Dana White didn’t like Paddy Pimblett’s face-off against Ilia Topuria
The UFC lightweight division has always been the most competitive in UFC history and currently it isn’t any different. Other than Paddy Pimblett, other top contenders such as Justin Gaethje and Arman Tsarukyan were also present at UFC 317. After Pimblett got inside the cage and shared that intense faceoff with Ilia Topuria, both fighters got a massive pop from the audience.

Their heated past and Pimblett’s ongoing winning momentum make this a blockbuster fight with massive pay-per-view potential for the UFC. However, CEO Dana White was reportedly unhappy with the officials who allowed Pimblett to enter the octagon after Topuria’s victory. During the post-fight press conference, White expressed his frustration and explained in detail why he strongly disapproved of that moment.
I don’t know who the hell let him in there; that should have never happened. I was already back in my room or that would have never happened. We’ll see how this plays out. Who gives a sh** if it was fun or not, that shouldn’t have happened.

Inside the cage, Topuria promised to submit to Pimblett when they go against each other in the future. Pimblett was also quite hyped about the opportunity and made his intentions clear about the newly crowned champion.
Ilia just said in the cage that he’s going to submit me. He won’t do that. He said it because he knows he can’t knock me out. I will put that little b*tch in his place. Get it booked!

During the post-fight press conference, Topuria firmly doubled down on wanting the Pimblett fight, mainly due to their long-standing heated rivalry. According to the Georgian-Spanish champion, destroying Pimblett would be much easier compared to facing someone like Oliveira, whom he respects. It would be interesting to see whether White agrees to this fight, potentially later this year.
