Josh Hart Roasts Joe Ingles Amid Minnesota Timberwolves Return
Josh Hart is looking to reignite his 2022 Twitter beef with Joe Ingles, judging from his latest tweet.

Josh Hart and Joe Ingles have a history of good-natured ribbing. It all kicked off in a lighthearted way when they were both part of a three-team trade that sent them to the Portland Trail Blazers in February 2022. They never actually played together because Ingles was sidelined with an injury. That didn’t stop them from trading jabs online.
The spark came in April 2022 when Josh Hart, then with the Blazers, tweeted, “I’ll go sit my a** down and leave you alone Josh Ingles” alongside a clip, poking fun at Ingles. Hart’s tweet was about two buddies clowning each other, a vibe that carried over from their time in the trade rumor mill.

This wasn’t a one-off either. Their friendship, laced with humor, showed up again later when Hart jokingly called out Ingles for being the “least athletic player in the NBA” in 2024, only to follow it up with love, saying Ingles had been texting him to stay confident.
Back in 2022, the Twitter exchange was more about Hart leaning into his role as the instigator, while Ingles, the savvy veteran, likely fired back with his signature Aussie sarcasm. But Josh Hart isn’t done with it. The Knicks swingman took another playful jab at Joe Ingles after news of him re-signing with the Minnesota Timberwolves emerged this Monday morning. Hart tweeted:
Man someone tell him to go head and retire already

What makes it fun is how it reflects their personalities. Hart has a relentless energy that makes him keep plugging away at his mates, while Ingles plays it off slyly using his dad-joke charm. They’ve never been on the court together, but their off-court chemistry keeps fans entertained. It’s the kind of “beef” that’s more about camaraderie than conflict, a reminder that even NBA stars love a good laugh.
Joe Ingles is now 37 years old and undoubtedly playing out the last legs of his NBA career, having debuted in 2014. He has re-signed for a veteran’s minimum deal with Minnesota because he’s perhaps still their most viable playmaker to set up their big men in pick-and-roll situations. His chemistry with Rudy Gobert has been elite in that role ever since their Utah Jazz days.
Josh Hart could be on the trade block for the Knicks this summer
The New York Knicks front office is under more pressure than they have been at any point in the recent past. Excellence on the court always brings elevated expectations off it. By having their most successful season in 25 years, the Knicks have automatically raised the bar for what the fans will expect them to get done next year. On top of that, they have also fired Tom Thibodeau, who is responsible for the franchise’s turnaround.

Whoever they replace Thibodeau with will have a tough task on their hands. With the Bucks, Pacers and Celtics all dealing with Achilles tears for the 2025-26, the Knicks are the logical contenders who should be favored to emerge from the East next season. Players like Mikal Bridges, OG Anunoby and Josh Hart, who underperformed in the ECF, could also be on the trade block for the right player.
One of the most left-field rumors going around links LeBron James to a move to the Knicks. If this trade does take place, Josh Hart and Mikal Bridges would almost surely be moved to the Lakers, in addition to other pieces.
