After an impressive performance in a closely fought Game 1 on Monday night, Anthony Edwards and the Minnesota Timberwolves were crushed in Game 2 against the San Antonio Spurs on Wednesday night.
The Wolves were handed a beating from start to finish as they were down by 24 points at the end of the first half. The Spurs unleashed carnage in Game 2, coasting to a 133-95 victory at the Frost Bank Center. The win for the Spurs saw them level the series at 1-1.
After the devastating loss, Edwards was seen limping and walking off with ice on both his knees in the tunnel.

Anthony Edwards surprised the NBA world after playing in Game 1 of the Western Conference Semifinals against the Spurs. Edwards has been playing through a knee injury in the playoffs and suffered a left knee hyperextension and bone bruise in Game 4 against the Denver Nuggets in a hard-fought first round.
While he was expected to miss multiple weeks, he made a remarkable recovery and returned to action in just nine days. The 24-year-old impressed in Game 1 as he came off the bench and scored 18 points in 25 minutes.
Heading into the tie, it was expected that a Wolves side with no Edwards would stand no chance against the Spurs. But with Edwards making a miraculous recovery, the Wolves were able to come out with a much-needed road win.
Anthony Edwards and the Wolves came out cool in Game 2
The Spurs didn’t give the Wolves a sniff from tip-off. The Wolves committed 22 turnovers and saw multiple players in foul trouble early on. After Game 1, it seemed that the Wolves took their foot off the gas, while the Spurs were looking to make a statement.
After the game, Edwards revealed that his team didn’t bring in the energy and came out cool in Game 2.
I told the guys after the first game, the natural tendency for teams that steal the first game, the away team, they get blown out Game 2. So we can’t come out cool. And we came out cool. And what happened? We got blew out. My mama used to tell me, ‘A hard head make a soft a*s.

Before tip-off, it was reported that Edwards was feeling healthier and could play a few more minutes than he did in Game 1. But since they were getting blown away, he played for just 24 minutes and recorded 12 points and three rebounds.
It was an overall poor shooting and defensive night for the Wolves. The 38-point loss is their largest postseason loss in franchise history.
Anthony Edwards on facing double teams after crossing halfcourt
In the offseason, NBA icon Michael Jordan revealed that he helped Anthony Edwards in tackling double teams. The Wolves star took his team to two consecutive Western Conference Finals and found some difficulty when opposing teams double-teamed him.

Edwards faced a similar situation against the Spurs on Wednesday and was asked about it after the match.
Yeah, that was crazy, right? Against it? To be effective, I think we’ve got to watch film on it and find the holes in it. But attacking early, for me, they’re picking me up full court, so just trying to beat that one-on-one full court press. Get downhill and make a play for my teammates.

“We started the game too cool.”
On the doubles: “They was playing crazy, right?”
Is he ready to start? “That’s not up to me.”
Ready to up minutes? “Whatever’s required.”

Edwards and the Wolves will be looking to bounce back strongly after their dismal performance. With a road win in the bag, the Wolves will need their home crowd to step up in Games 3 and 4 at the Target Center.
