Anthony Edwards and the Minnesota Timberwolves had no answer for Victor Wembanyama in Game 5 on Tuesday night. The Frenchman was simply unstoppable from start to finish as he gave the San Antonio Spurs a 3-2 lead heading into Game 6.
The Spurs dominated all four quarters, with Wembanyama leading the charge. It was a convincing victory as they registered a 126-97 blowout against the Wolves at the Frost Bank Center. The loss has put the Wolves on the brink of elimination.
After the loss, Edwards named Wembanyama as the reason for their struggles in Game 5.
Tonight, some of the stuff that Wemby was doing, you don’t really have too much of an answer for it. You just kind of hope he misses, but he was making [everything]. He came out hot and made a bunch of shots. I feel like we adjusted and fought back into the game, trying to dig ourselves out of the hole, but eventually they created another lead.

There was no stopping Victor Wembanyama on Tuesday night. The Spurs center was the center of attraction heading into Game 5 after a Flagrant 2 foul led to his ejection early in Game 4. Some critics believed that the foul warranted a suspension for the Frenchman. Fortunately for the Spurs, he was cleared to play in Game 5.
Anthony Edwards is well known for his confidence and his competitiveness. But even a personality like him could do nothing but give flowers after Wembanyama’s Game 5 performance.
The Wolves guard has been battling a knee injury for much of the playoffs this year. The 24-year-old came up big in Game 4 to level the series at 2-2, but now finds his team 3-2 down as the series moves back to Minnesota for Game 6.
The Spurs put in a complete performance in Game 5
The Spurs were locked in from tip-off in Game 5. It was a complete performance from the team on both ends of the floor. Meanwhile, the Wolves struggled to find any rhythm and weren’t able to stop any runs made by the Spurs.
Victor Wembanyama led the scorers as he recorded a double-double on the night. He had a stat line of 27 points, 17 rebounds, five assists, and three blocks, while his rival on the other side, Anthony Edwards, ended his night on 20 points.

The Frenchman was eager to put his Game 4 ejection behind him and had Rudy Gobert on ice from the beginning as he raced off to 16 points in just 16 minutes. It was a dominant performance from the center on the offensive and defensive end as he continues to show the NBA world why he is the best two-way player in the NBA today.
The Spurs saw six players score double-digit points. Their bench outscored the Wolves’ bench by 21 points. They will be looking to seal their spot in the Western Conference Finals in Game 6 at the Target Center. If they win, it will be their first appearance in nine years.
Victor Wembanyama stays locked in for Game 6
Victor Wembanyama is having a dream run in his first-ever playoffs. He has led his team to just one win away from a Western Conference Final. He has already broken a few records along the way as he looks to cement himself as the best player in the world at just 22.
After his dominant performance, Wembanyama had already shifted his focus to Game 6.

The Oklahoma City Thunder await the winner in the Western Conference Finals. They have been invincible so far as they are yet to lose a game in the playoffs this year. Game 6 is set to take place on Friday in what will be a must-win game for Anthony Edwards and the Wolves.
