- LeBron James has garnered interest from multiple NBA contenders as he considers his future.
- The Cleveland Cavaliers have had discussions with LeBron about a potential return.
- LeBron's next decision hinges on whether the Lakers or other teams can build a championship-caliber roster.
LeBron James is currently enjoying his offseason after ending his 23rd campaign when the Oklahoma City Thunder swept the Los Angeles Lakers in four games.
Even though the superstar would have liked to fight for a championship, injuries to key players made it difficult for them to get even a win against the defending champions.
That is what the King wants to see before he makes his next decision. He wants to fight for championships and would like to know whether the Los Angeles Lakers or any other team is willing to build a roster for him to hoist another Larry O’Brien Trophy.
While many have been harping about his recent revelations about the Lakers’ treatment of him, others have wondered whether anyone is interested in a 41-year-old superstar nearing retirement.
I do know a lot of teams are calling… I spoke to Rich Paul the other day…he told me, like every contender in the NBA has essentially since the season ended, placed a call.
Shams Charania said on The Pat McAfee Show
ESPN’s lead Insider believes that LeBron James has interest from several contenders. Even though some might question Rich Paul’s honesty while revealing that to Charania, the latter would not speak about it unless he had vetted it.

This means, along with the open doors at the Cleveland Cavaliers, there are other teams interested in signing the ‘Face of the NBA,’ even if it is just for one season. The economic windfall, along with the potential of winning a title, is tantalizing for any team.
Insider reveals Cavs players’ discussions with LeBron James
All the contenders in a fight to win an NBA championship have one thing in common. None of them has the salary cap space to afford LeBron James a max contract.

The father of three believes he deserves it, but aside from the Los Angeles Lakers, no one might be able to afford anything beyond the veteran minimum. Still, since he is a free agent, there is considerable interest and discussion.
The Cleveland Cavaliers and LeBron James do have mutual interest… Some members on their roster have had conversations with LeBron about a potential pairing.
Brandon ‘Scoop B’ Robinson revealed
This was Brandon ‘Scoop B’ Robinson, who has a knack for finding information from the most unlikely of sources. He has enough information to confirm that some Cavaliers players have had baseline discussions with the 22-time All-Star.

But Robinson reminded his viewers that it was still at a nascent stage, meaning a lot still needs to be discussed before anything can materialize.
The Cavaliers have officially welcomed their prodigal son back. It is a matter of whether that son’s current employer believes he is good enough to continue playing for them.
Analyst believes retiring with the Lakers is LeBron James’ best option
While other teams may be interested in the four-time league MVP, there is also the understanding that he has proved he is worth more than just a veteran minimum contract.
That alone makes it difficult for any other team to sign him. The purple and gold organization can exercise its Bird Rights, something no other team can.
There is no better place to be as a retired NBA player than to be a former Los Angeles Laker. That will be your home for the rest of your career.

This was the ESPN senior writer suggesting to LeBron James that it would be best for his legacy if he were to walk away from the game wearing those iconic colors. No other team or city can match what Los Angeles can do for him and his family.
