In Short
  • Jake Paul’s team plans to pursue Conor McGregor if he becomes a free agent.
  • McGregor is scheduled to return to competition against Max Holloway at UFC 329.
  • Jake Paul continues to seek high-profile boxing matchups, including a potential fight with Canelo Alvarez.

Jake Paul has developed into one of boxing’s biggest stars in recent years through crossover success and business growth. Originally gaining fame as a YouTube vlogger, Paul quickly expanded into combat sports alongside major ventures through Most Valuable Promotions. MVP co-founder Nakisa Bidarian recently stated the company would pursue signing Conor McGregor if the former champion enters free agency.

Bidarian is the co-founder of Most Valuable Promotions and Betr alongside Paul and serves as one of the company’s leading executives. Before entering the combat sports promotion, Bidarian worked extensively in finance and business management, including serving as an Endeavor executive with the UFC. He has become a major figure behind MVP’s rapid growth and crossover boxing strategy in recent years.

McGregor has remained out of competition since 2021, although he still stands among combat sports’ biggest global stars. The Irishman is scheduled to return against Max Holloway at UFC 329 on July 11th. However, his long-term future remains uncertain regardless of the result. That uncertainty recently fueled Bidarian’s comments that the MVP could pursue McGregor if he reaches free agency.

McGregor and Paul have shared tensions for years through repeated public exchanges over boxing and MMA. Their rivalry intensified after Paul fought boxing legend Mike Tyson in 2024, prompting the former two-division champion to criticize the bout. However, the pair have also displayed a friendly rapport during appearances together at US President Donald Trump’s inauguration party back in January 2025.

The timing of McGregor’s return announcement after five years also drew significant attention across combat sports and global media circles. UFC CEO Dana White revealed the news during the broadcast of Most Valuable Promotions’ inaugural MMA event. White himself has remained publicly at odds with Paul for years over debates over fighter compensation and contractual disputes involving UFC athletes.

MVP MMA 1 was widely viewed as a landmark event, with Ariel Helwani and Ronda Rousey reportedly comparing its presentation and scale to the UFC. The promotion’s rapid growth has drawn attention to Jake Paul and Nakisa Bidarian’s ambitions in combat sports. It now remains to be seen whether they can elevate MVP further enough to eventually attract ‘The Notorious One’ to the organization.

Jake Paul leaks phone call with Mexican superstar boxer

Canelo Alvarez remains one of boxing’s biggest global stars through his achievements across multiple weight divisions and championship reigns. The Mexican superstar has headlined several major pay-per-view events while building a reputation as one of the sport’s elite pound-for-pound fighters. In recent years, rumors have repeatedly linked Alvarez to a potential crossover boxing match against Jake Paul.

The matchup against Paul was once viewed as a strong possibility amid growing crossover boxing discussions surrounding Canelo Alvarez. However, Saudi executive Turki Alalshikh later helped position Alvarez for a blockbuster fight against Terence Crawford instead. Alvarez eventually lost that bout, leading to renewed attention toward a recently leaked phone call involving ‘The Problem Child’.

$200 million dollars for you. This is the biggest fight that can be made in boxing. Canelo said he’s down on the phone.

Following his loss to Crawford, Canelo Alvarez is now officially scheduled to face Christian Mbilli on September 12th. The announcement appears to have ended immediate speculation surrounding a potential crossover superfight between Alvarez and Jake Paul. Despite that development, Paul continues publicly pursuing blockbuster boxing matchups against some of the sport’s biggest names.
