A lawsuit was filed to put a stop to the upcoming UFC Freedom 250 event, putting Dana White at unease temporarily.

Dana White has taken on ambitious projects over the years with The Sphere event back in 2024 being a major highlight. The UFC CEO also tried to book a fight between billionaires, Elon Musk and Mark Zuckerberg, in 2023. Although that didn’t happen, the UFC boss is close to adding a White House fight card onto his resume if things go to plan.
The UFC Freedom 250 event is an outdoor event, which means storms, rains, and bug troubles could likely impact the event. Less than a week before the event, a new lawsuit aims to shut down the event for good as reported by MMA Junkie. According to the publication, the suit was filed by Paul Romano and Susan Douglas, both hailing from Virginia.
Romano is a Vietnam veteran and Douglas is a civic activist and organizer. They have argued in the lawsuit that the UFC Freedom 250 event is deeply corrupt due to the involvement of President Donald Trump and his friend, Dana White.
The UFC’s show at the White House is ‘deeply corrupt,’ in part because Donald Trump is giving his friend, UFC CEO Dana White, and the UFC ‘unfettered access to the White House and Lincoln Memorial to stage a private, for-profit sports event, with all the promotional and branding opportunities that accompany such access.’

Despite the claims of the lawsuit, Dana White has revealed that the event would not use tax-payer’s money. As such, the promotion is not staging a ‘private, for-profit sports event’, considering there is no live gate revenue for the event.
Nevertheless, Susan Douglas does not want the involvement of public monuments like the White House and Lincoln Memorial for the upcoming event. She called it as “corruption” and wants the judicial system to enforce the law.
It remains to be seen what will happen of this lawsuit, and if the event gets shut down. However, the MMA community has not sided with the lawsuit. Most of the comments on social media appear to ridicule the lawsuit rather than support it.
Dana White reveals new belt and finished construction for UFC Freedom 250
Donald Trump is not someone who will do the bare minimum to celebrate the 250th Independence Day of the United States. A year back, the POTUS surprised everyone by talking about a fight card on the White House South Lawn for 2026. After several arranging of dates, the promotion and the Trump administration eventually settled on June 14.

As the event grows close, UFC CEO Dana White has focused his attention on the upcoming event. The promotion recently shared a video of White looking at the UFC belt given to the winner of the co-main event and the main event. White was deeply impressed by the belt’s design and even gave the designer a fist-bump to acknowledge the good work.

Not only that, the UFC CEO also updated the fans about the construction of ‘The Claw.’ For those unaware, The Claw is a 600-ton, 154-foot-wide attraction with steel framework filled with large beam lights. Reports suggest that the lighting grid also has some aluminum components, and is covered by a 100-by-100 foot canopy over the top.

As of now, none of the fights are in jeopardy. Dana White has emphasized needing trusted professionals to fight on the card. This is why Jon Jones is not competing on the card despite publicly asking for the opportunity. It is also why reliable fighters like Diego Lopes, Michael Chandler, found themselves on the UFC Freedom 250 event.
More unforeseen troubles could affect the much-anticipated fight card in the coming days. Nevertheless, the UFC boss has faced more troubles during the COVID-19 pandemic, and came out as the victor. Fans as well as fighters could see Dana White prevailing to put on a spectacle on June 14 as well.
