Donald Trump made his feelings known, not shying away from calling out Stephen A. Smith after Game 3 of the NBA Finals. It was Trump’s first appearance at Madison Square Garden since being elected as the President of the United States in 2024.

His return to the arena did not go according to plan, as the New York Knicks were handed an 115-111 defeat by the San Antonio Spurs in Game 3 on Monday night. The loss ended the Knicks’ 13-match winning streak in the playoffs.

After the game, Trump hit back at Smith and noted noting that Smith had flirted with running for president.

He is a nice guy but you need a certain aptitude to run for president. You need a high IQ. I don’t think Stephen has it. I don’t think he does actually.

Donald Trump after Game 3

It looks like something may be brewing between Donald Trump and Stephen A. Smith after their recent comments at each other. Smith pleaded with the President not to attend the games at MSG. He even labeled Trump as “selfish” and blamed him for the Knicks losing in Game 3.

Trump was booed when the cameras focused on him before Game 3 got underway. The President seemed unbothered by the reactions and did not hold himself back when taking shots at Smith. It is a huge turn from Trump, who said a year ago that he would love to see the sports analyst run for President.

It remains to be seen if Smith will have anything to say after Trump’s recent comments. It also remains to be seen if Trump decides to attend Game 4 at the Garden.

NBA Commissioner Adam Silver was delighted to see Trump at the game on Monday night.

He (Trump) is welcome to be here. What makes sports so special, especially when there’s so much that divides people, is it’s something that we have in common. We should look for those things we have in common and build off that. He was a fixture at Madison Square Garden, he had courtside seats here all the time. He was at drafts. He’s a genuine Knicks fan.
