Selena Gomez turned to social media following the San Antonio Spurs’ heartbreaking loss to the New York Knicks in Game 4 of the NBA Finals on June 10, sharing her disappointment after her favorite team surrendered a massive lead in a historic comeback defeat.
The singer and actress, who happens to be a longtime Spurs supporter, posted several reactions on Instagram after New York erased a deficit that reached 29 points and secured a 107-106 victory at Madison Square Garden.
One Instagram Story, later deleted, praised the Knicks’ comeback while also referencing what Gomez described as newly emerging supporters of the team.
“Mad respect for the game!! Congrats to the peeps that represent! Whaat a comeback. so funny how some are all the sudden fans though lol,” Gomez wrote.
She also shared a throwback photo of herself wearing a Spurs jersey, underscoring her longtime connection to the franchise. Reflecting on the outcome, Gomez acknowledged the Knicks’ achievement while expressing disappointment over the result.
The singer wrote, “Happy for NY, but my heart breaks just a lil lol. It’s ok. I’m happy for the teams! Thanks for giving us some great games (NBA).”
The dramatic finish capped one of the most memorable games of the series. San Antonio dominated the first half and set an NBA Finals record with 14 made three-pointers before halftime. The Spurs led by 27 points at the break and by as many as 29 points overall before New York mounted its comeback.
The Knicks gradually cut into the deficit during the second half and took the lead in the closing moments when OG Anunoby tipped in a missed shot by Jalen Brunson with less than two seconds remaining. The victory gave New York a 3-1 advantage in the NBA Finals heading into Game 5.
Selena Gomez clarifies Taylor Swift comment after fans speculate about ‘shade’
Selena Gomez later addressed online speculation surrounding a comment she left on an Instagram post featuring her close friend Taylor Swift celebrating the Knicks’ Game 4 victory.
Swift attended the game at Madison Square Garden alongside Alana Haim, Este Haim, and Mariska Hargitay. After MTV shared photos from the evening, Gomez commented “lol” on the post, prompting some social media users to speculate that she was criticizing Swift for supporting the Knicks.

She responded to the rumors in an Instagram Story, saying the comment was not directed at Swift.
Woke up and was sent so many texts. I would never insult my friends, nor was it an insult. The comment was a reaction to the first slide on the page. Second, I bet my friends on the game. The friends in the text chain I posted. I lost but was poking at my opponents, my friends. Believe it or not I do have other friends in my life. But quickly forget that most assume otherwise. also .. It’s a basketball game.
