Indiana Pacers guard Tyrese Haliburton and his fiancée, Jade Jones, are set to tie the knot sometime before the start of the 2026-27 season.
The point guard has been with Jones since their days at Iowa State, when he was an NBA prospect, and she was a cheerleader. Since then, she has traveled with him wherever his career took him.
During his time with the Sacramento Kings, Jones saw him struggle to make his mark as an elite player. Then, after his trade to the Pacers, she was there to witness him rise and become a superstar.
Jones was there every time he proved how clutch he could be during last season’s sensational playoff run. Every game she was there, and she would even defend him by taking on rival fans. But what fans saw and appreciated most was when Jade Jones stood by Haliburton after he tore his Achilles tendon. That episode probably proved what she meant in the two-time All-Star’s life.
No wonder he did not wait long after his heartbreak to ensure Jones would have his heart forever. He made his intention clear when he went down on his injured leg to propose to her. Fast forward to now, and the two were preparing to get married, which is why Jade Jones held a bachelorette party for her closest friends at St. Barts.

Everything was going well, and the group of women was having a blast, as evidenced by Jones’ social media posts. But then, they stopped. When TMZ dug in, they found out that one of her close friends, Makenzi Kern, passed away during the event.
Jade Jones’ friend fell sick during the event
TMZ used their sources to find more information about this tragic incident, and found out that Makenzi Kern was Jade Jones’ cheerleading teammate at Iowa State.

The publication learned that the 26-year-old developed unexpected health complications during this St. Barts bachelorette party. When probed deeper on the possibility of foul play, Kern’s family made it clear that there was no suspicion of foul play
Drugs and alcohol were also dismissed as contributors to her death. Other than that, TMZ could not get a clear understanding of how the former cheerleader died during a fun party.
So far, it seems that because the 2024 Assists leader’s fiancée and her friends are quiet on social media, it will be difficult to find answers until a certain time has passed.
Maybe the group of friends is keeping it private, something the family of Makenzi Kern may have wanted it to be. Moreover, Tyrese Haliburton and Jones are likely shattered, knowing a fun party turned out to be tragic.
Tyrese Haliburton sent a message to his fiancée during the bridal shower party
Makenzi Kern was probably part of Jade Jones’ inner circle of friends, as was evident in the fact that the bachelorette party at St. Barts featured a select group of women.
Fans would expect Caitlin Clark to be there, considering their close friendship, but since the WNBA season is in full swing, that was not going to happen.
When she hosted her bridal shower more than a month ago, there were a lot more friends involved. Tyrese Haliburton may not have been allowed to appear there, but he sure sent a message to his former classmate and soon-to-be wife.
Babe, you’re the love of my life. I loved loving you in these last seven years. I loved being loved by you in these last seven years… I can’t wait to marry you.
Tyrese Haliburton’s message
As his voice played out through the speakers, Jones shed a tear, knowing how much it meant to her. She did all that, and then smiled at her friends while holding on to a massive (and heavy) bouquet of roses the Pacers’ guard sent over.
