The Miami Heat saw their NBA championship odds rise significantly after they landed Giannis Antetokounmpo in a trade with the Milwaukee Bucks.
The Greek Freak is one of the hardest-working players in the league, and his motivation to compete and win titles is why he wanted to leave his former team.
The Florida-based franchise gave up a lot to land the two-time league MVP. Four players, four first-round picks, a pick swap, and a second-rounder are a lot.
When Luka Doncic was traded, the Los Angeles Lakers sent two players and one first-round pick. Nico Harrison was to blame for that debacle, and he eventually lost his job.
This is Pat Riley, and generally, no one doubts the Godfather’s decisions. Some questions did arise about how the Heat can compete without a deep roster, but Kendrick Perkins‘ doubt lies with the very player the Heat traded for.
Giannis will never win another championship with him being the number 1 option. I repeat… Giannis Antetokounmpo will never win another championship with him being the number 1 scoring option.

As soon as the former champion uttered his first sentence, his First Take colleagues were left baffled. But he went on to double down on his opinion about Giannis Antetokounmpo, even though the frowns were still there.
Fans flame Kendrick Perkins for horrible Giannis Antetokounmpo take
The former Boston Celtics center stressed on Number 1 Scoring Option when he repeated his opinion. It means he does not see the Miami Heat winning a championship if Giannis Antetokounmpo is their go-to scorer.
Even though he might have a logic behind that take, fans were not having it. They took to social media to rip the ESPN analyst. They felt that he was forgetting that the superstar had won a title as the Bucks’ leading scorer. Check out examples of those reactions below.
But he already did😭 cmon Perk pic.twitter.com/mlYnn6oGQ7

This guy is lucky to habe 1 title with a big 3 offensive power and he talks like he knows how to play dominant basketball. Thats why I stopped watching first take.

coming from a guy whose never been a top 3 option in his life.

Calling a Finals MVP incapable of being a No. 1 option is certainly a take.

A guy wins MVPs, DPOY, Finals MVP, and still gets talked about like he’s unproven… smh😒

Sometimes I feel freedom of speech is a curse after hearing this kind of blasphemy

Defund sports media already please we’ve had enough

Perkins’ take was bad enough that Vincent Goodwill, who has had some awful takes of his own recently, and the almighty Stephen A. Smith had to react. Therefore, the reaction of fans was not surprising.
Gilbert Arenas warns league after Giannis Antetokounmpo joins Heat
While Kendrick Perkins might have his apprehensions, when Gilbert Arenas was asked to sum up Giannis Antetokounmpo’s move to the Miami Heat, he replied:

Uh oh… Because Pat Riley is still cooking. As much as I don’t like giving him credit for winning championships, only with generational-type players… Going out and getting another freak of nature… I already know what the results are.
Gilbert Arenas said on X
The three-time All-Star believes that Pat Riley has hit it out of the park with this one. He has brought another generational player in the former Milwaukee Buck, and that can only mean championships.
Giannis to the Miami Heat = CHAMPIONSHIP 🏆 pic.twitter.com/cwIqGJBiY5

Arenas also believes that once the Heat win their next title, it is possible that Riley will finally retire from the sport. By then, the 81-year-old will be sure that his legacy will never be matched.
