Caitlin Clark Getting No Call After Opponent Lands Fist to Her Throat Angers Fans – “Alyssa Thomas is a Thug”
Superstar point guard Caitlin Clark and her Indiana Fever have usually had testy battles with the Phoenix Mercury.

During her rookie season, Caitlin Clark realized just how physical the WNBA is, and then proceeded to bulk up in the view that added strength would help her withstand that.
In her second season, the counter effects of that additional muscle saw her struggle with her soft tissues. After three separate injuries, she ended her sophomore season early.
By then, fans knew that the Fever had brought in someone to stand up for their point guard, as Sophie Cunningham sent a message to Clark’s rival, Jacy Sheldon.
This season, they added Myisha Hines-Allen to the mix, and usually, that is enough to set a warning. That was evident when the two stepped up to confront and taunt Phoenix Mercury players DeWanna Bonner and Alyssa Thomas in their previous game.
The scuffles and multitude of technical fouls should have set the precedent for the next game. But no foul was called on a particular incident involving Caitlin Clark and Thomas.
When the 24-year-old tried to get hold of the ball, Bonner tried to dislodge it from her former teammate. But then, the former’s fiancée, Thomas, went straight in on Clark.

Video clips show the Mercury playmaker’s right fist landing on the Fever guard’s throat, and her left knee almost making significant contact with Clark’s groin. This incident might become as controversial as the Chennedy Carter blindside shoulder barge.
Fans tear into Alyssa Thomas and WNBA for ‘dirty play’
As soon as the clip was shown, fans clipped it and uploaded it on social media. Soon, swathes of angry fans started reacting, or rather flaming, both Alyssa Thomas for her ‘dirty play’ on Caitlin Clark.
They also tore into the WNBA and its officials for not calling an obvious foul. They demanded that Thomas be assessed a Flagrant 2 and suspended for the next game. Check out examples of those reactions below.

These women clearly have never heard the phrase, “Don’t bite the hand that feeds you.” I’ve never been so angry after a game. I get disappointed after loses, this was different. This was DIRTY and 100% to cause injury/pain.

Shame on this league for this damn near

criminal assault! Shame on the WNBA!
Lol. I still don't know why people watch and support this kind of attitude and allowing players to get hurt

And are hustle players about punching people in the throat and kneeing them in the groin, dummy?

She also pinches her arm before she drills her in the throat.

Thomas is a dirty player and nobody calls her out – she completely took Phee out last year in the playoffs.

But does she get called – NOPE!!!
What are we even doing here? Brutal cheap shot. These women would still be flying commercial without Caitlin and this is how she is treated. Insane pic.twitter.com/yTkZEyrQFG

In Alyssa Thomas’ defense, she may have been sincerely trying to get the ball. But going fist-first towards a player’s neck area is not a method to dislodge the ball. That is why fans, and even Stephanie White, were incensed after no foul was called to penalize that action on Caitlin Clark.
Stephanie White goes on a rant against WNBA’s officials
After the close loss to the Mercury, reporters waited nearly 40 minutes for Indiana Fever head coach Stephanie White to arrive at the press conference. As soon as she sat down, they asked her about the Alyssa Thomas-Caitlin Clark incident and the no-call.

The fact that it was a no-call is absolutely egregious and utterly disrespectful… We have a generational talent and a WNBA superstar, who had two cheap shots right there that weren’t called… Absolutely unacceptable.

The 48-year-old remarked that despite the changes to officiating this season, the lack of consistency is what led to these incidents. She believes that Caitlin Clark is not getting the calls that other superstars get, and that is where it has become difficult for her team.
