Jakub Mensik was last seen in action at Wimbledon, where, although he took the second set off Grigor Dimitrov in the second round, he eventually ended up losing the match. It was the second consecutive time that Mensik suffered an early exit in grass-court events following the Queen’s Club Championships.
Mensik is next scheduled to play the Citi Open to kick-start his campaign for the North American hardcourt swing. The Citi Open is set to start on July 27, and Mensik, who recently hopped on Tennis Channel’s ‘Confessional Cart’, was asked if he had a sister, and which player on the tour he would let date her. Mensik here minced no words.
Ohh…I don’t like tennis players. I’m glad I don’t have a sister, I wouldn’t like tennis players to date my sister. That’s it. That’s the answer.
"Ohh…I don't like tennis players. I'm glad I don't have a sister, I wouldn't like tennis players to date my sister." 😂

Although Mensik’s run at Wimbledon ended quickly, he reached his career’s first Grand Slam semifinal in this year’s French Open. After defeating Alex de Minaur, Andrey Rublev, and Joao Fonseca, Mensik lost to eventual champion Alexander Zverev.
Mensik has so far lifted two titles from three finals. Following his defeat to Karen Khachanov at the 2024 Qatar Open, he upset 24-time Grand Slam champion Novak Djokovic in the final of the Miami Open. This year in the ASB Classic final, he beat Sebastian Baez.
Last year on the North American hardcourt swing, Mensik skipped the Washington ATP 500 event and instead played the Canadian Open (lost in the round of 32) and the Cincinnati Masters (handed the walkover to his third-round opponent). Then at the US Open, his run ended in the second round.
Jakub Mensik calls Carlos Alcaraz the most intense competitor and Novak Djokovic the GOAT
During that aforementioned rapid-fire round with Tennis Channel, Jakub Mensik was also asked who the greatest of all time in tennis is. He did not take much time in answering, calling Novak Djokovic the best. He was also asked which player on the tour he texts the most.

With Novak. I’m texting sometimes with Sebi [Sebastian] Korea as well. He knows how to speak Czech.
And for him, the most intense competitor is none other than Carlos Alcaraz, the seven-time Grand Slam champion who is nursing a wrist injury that forced him to withdraw from the French Open as well as Wimbledon.
Who’s quietly the most intense competitor? I would go with Carlos. The guy doesn’t give you a free point. You know, he’s just running everywhere.
Although Mensik called the Spaniard a fierce competitor, he has not yet faced him in singles matches. They only played doubles together once, defeating the pair of Alex Michelsen and Taylor Fritz in last year’s Laver Cup.
Alcaraz was last seen in action at the Barcelona Open in April. It’s uncertain when he will be returning to the tour. Some reports claim Alcaraz has recovered completely and could play the Cincinnati Masters, where he beat defending champion Jannik Sinner last year. Alcaraz has already taken home two titles this season.
After beating Djokovic in the Australian Open final and becoming the youngest man in the Open Era to complete the Career Grand Slam, Alcaraz beat Arthur Fils in the Qatar Open final. Then, after his exits in the two Sunshine Double events, Alcaraz failed to defend his title in Monte Carlo, losing the final to Sinner, which saw him lose his No. 1 ranking to the now five-time Grand Slam champion.
Djokovic, on the other hand, once again was denied a chance to end his Grand Slam drought. After his defeat to Joao Fonseca in the third round of the French Open, Nole lost the Wimbledon semifinal to eventual champion Sinner.
