Max Holloway has established himself as one of the UFC’s biggest stars through an accomplished career inside the Octagon. The Hawaiian superstar enjoyed a successful featherweight title reign before later capturing the BMF title after moving to lightweight. However, outside of competition, Holloway is a devoted family man. His wife, Alessa Quizon, recently revealed how she first met the UFC superstar.

Holloway and Alessa publicly confirmed their relationship in 2020 before announcing their engagement later that November. After nearly two years as an engaged couple, they married on April 16, 2022, during a ceremony at the Lanikuhonua Cultural Institute in Ko Olina, Hawaii. Family and close friends attended the celebration, with Holloway’s son, Rush, also playing a special role in the wedding.

Quizon recently appeared on the Brotherlee Time podcast, where she revisited the early stages of her relationship with Holloway. The discussion followed Holloway’s earlier revelation that she had left his direct message unanswered for five years before they eventually connected. Quizon acknowledged his account and admitted she knew the former champion had been interested in her from the beginning.

I never watched UFC, nothing. I didn’t know he was a big deal till I got home. Everybody’s like, ‘Yeah, Max, how’s it going? Can I get a picture?’… So I had one of my friends be like, ‘Oh, you’re hanging out with Max? Do you not know he’s like a big deal here?’ … I was like, ‘Oh, cool. All right, I’ll do my research.’ I was like, ‘Oh dang, I didn’t know.’ But I didn’t see that. Like, I just thought he was a really nice guy. Again, very persistent… I was like, man, this guy [is] on all the gas right now.

Quizon has become a pivotal figure in Holloway’s life and has formed a close bond with his son, Rush. A favorite among the UFC community, Rush is Holloway’s son from his first marriage to Kaimana Pa’aluhi. He has regularly accompanied his father during fight weeks and championship celebrations.

Holloway has also spoken about his family’s lengthy custody battle involving Rush. Following the legal process, Quizon became Rush’s legal mother, marking a significant milestone for the family. Holloway has described the outcome as one of the most meaningful moments of his personal life.

The professional surfer remained a constant presence during Holloway’s UFC 329 fight week alongside Rush. However, the main event ended after just 69 seconds when Conor McGregor suffered an injury in the opening round. Both Quizon and Rush supported Holloway from cageside throughout the event.

Holloway entered UFC 329 after losing the BMF title to Charles Oliveira by unanimous decision at UFC 326. Oliveira controlled much of the fight with his grappling, limiting the Hawaiian star’s striking across five rounds. The defeat ended Holloway’s reign as BMF champion before his next appearance.

Max Holloway’s legacy already includes one of the greatest featherweight careers in UFC history, highlighted by multiple title defenses and his later BMF championship reign. As he continues to chase success, Alessa Quizon and Rush remain central figures in his journey outside the Octagon.

Max Holloway reveals return timeline after UFC 329

Max Holloway and Conor McGregor first fought at UFC Fight Night 26 in August 2013. The bout was an important moment in Holloway’s early UFC career, as he faced the rising Irish superstar. McGregor won by unanimous decision, while Holloway gained respect for his performance despite suffering a knee injury.

Holloway and McGregor finally met again at UFC 329, more than a decade after their first fight. The rematch ended quickly after McGregor suffered a knee injury just 69 seconds into the opening round. The stoppage resulted in Holloway securing a victory in their long-awaited second meeting.

Holloway entered UFC 329 aiming to deliver another memorable performance against McGregor. He wanted to surpass his UFC 300 knockout victory over Justin Gaethje with an even bigger finish against the Irishman. After the bout, ‘Blessed’ revealed his interest in returning for a rematch in 2027.

I want to see what his injury is. I’m down to come back 2027. I know I came out unscathed but I owe my family some time. You guys are gonna see Blessed return in 2027.
