Anthony Edwards is enjoying his time off in the offseason. He was recently seen making an appearance at the Fanatics Fest 2026 held in New York City.
The Minnesota Timberwolves star is coming off his best individual campaign in terms of numbers last season. However, he could not lead his team past the Western Conference Semifinals as they were eliminated by the San Antonio Spurs in six games.
While Edwards is searching for his first championship win, he did score a big victory off the court. The win was for his never-ending battle with Ayesha Howard, who is the mother of his one-year-old daughter.
A judge in Georgia ordered Edwards to pay $3,222 a month in child support. The order caught a lot of eyeballs as Edwards is one of the highest-paid players in the NBA, while Howard’s monthly income was listed as zero.

Edwards shares a daughter with Shannon Jackson, with whom he has been in a relationship for six years. However, the noise between the NBA star and Howard began when she filed a case for a paternity test and child support in California. She leaked text messages sent by Edwards to her that more or less confirmed that they were in a relationship, as he asked her to get an abortion.
Eventually, it was confirmed that he is the father of the child after the paternity test. However, the 24-year-old did not want to be a part of his daughter’s life. Hence, the battle over child support began. There were rumors swirling that she was trying to extort money from the Wolves guard, and many labeled her as a “gold-digger“. Edwards allegedly has more children with other women.
Ayesha Howard claims Anthony Edwards ‘intentionally’ hid assets
The $3,222-a-month child support did surprise many, as Edwards signed a five-year, $260 million deal two years ago. It was reported that Howard did not appear at trial and provided no evidence to back up her claims.
A few months ago in a newly filed petition, Howard alleged that Edwards misrepresented his assets in earlier court proceedings. She claimed that this was done to evade “personal jurisdiction and child support obligations”.
In her affidavit, she claims that Edwards “intentionally omitted and concealed long-standing financial California-based assets and financial activities at the onset of these California proceedings in an effort to evade personal jurisdiction and child support obligations.” She alleged that he holds multiple assets in the state of California. The assets include a business and a bank account, which were hidden during court hearings.
However, based on the documents after the latest hearing, it showed that Edwards has been paying nearly $110,000 in child support so far, including a $20,000 initial payment and $5,000 per month from January 2025 until the trial. Edwards can consider the order ended up being more in his favor in the end.
Ayesha Howard filed her claim in California, whereas Anthony Edwards filed it in Georgia.
There was a lot of concern and controversy regarding the whole child support case as the two parents of the child filed their claims in two different states. The concern was where the order of the case would be determined. To Edwards’ luck, it ended up being in Georgia.

When Howard filed her case in California, Anthony Edwards claimed that she had no ties to the state, while she claimed otherwise. He believed that she filed the case in Los Angeles in an attempt to get a higher child support award. Unfortunately, things did not work out in her favor.
Anthony’s lawyers argued Ayesha kept dragging out the case and asked the judge to not allow her to file additional motions in the California case. The child support would be determined in Georgia, and the monthly payment was set at $3,222.
