Amazon Prime set to takeover French Ligue 1 broadcasting rights

According to recent reports on various standard outlets, Amazon Prime is set to takeover the broadcasting rights of the Ligue 1. The French top-flight will feature on the Amazon Prime from the 2021/22 season onwards. The e-commerce giants have shelled a sum upto €250 million per season per season, according to reports.
However, there are no official broadcasters of the French top-flight in India and the fans will have to wait for their favorite star, Lionel Messi to play. The talismanic Barcelona legend is rumored to make his move away from Spain as the club was unable to extend his contract. Paris St Germain is the rumored destination of the Argentine international.
The report read:
Beginning August 6, Prime Video Ligue 1 will exclusively broadcast eight matches per week of all match-rounds of Ligue 1 Uber Eats per season for three years, including the 10 top pick matches of each season
What did Amazon Prime Director, Alex Green had to say?

Talking to Reuters, Amazon Prime Europe Director, Alex Green said:
We think it is a fair price. It will make watching soccer accessible both in terms of costs and usage. Each week they will be the faces of our Ligue 1 broadcast on Prime Video and will bring all their expertise and passion for the game to subscribers. This is just the beginning for us and we will be looking to innovate throughout the season, with the main aim of satisfying football fans
Who are going to be the pundits for the 2021/22 season?
Though the entire list of pundits are yet to be out, it is rumored that Thierry Henry, Ludovic Giuly, Vitorino Hilton & Pascal Dupraz are few of the pundits who are set to be the part of the commentary team.
The only reason why Amazon Prime were able to secure the deal was that Mediapro failed to make the payments on time. They had €780 million contract but they failed to pay it on time for the Ligue 1 authorities. Ligue 1 2021/22 season has already started with eight clubs starting their campaign last evening.
