DiJonai Carrington is one of the better defenders in the league and is widely regarded for her perimeter defense. She is well known for her hustle plays and for blocking layups from behind. Unfortunately, she got it all wrong on Saturday and paid the price.
The former second-round pick has often been criticized for her physical style of play. Carrington is known for not shying away from speaking her mind. Her post on social media made the rounds before she took it down.
Cunningham and the Fever came out on top in the end as they recorded a 90-86 victory at the United Center. It was their 20th win of the season as they climbed to the fourth spot in the standings with a 20-12 record. Meanwhile, the Sky sit at 11th place with a 12-20 record.
Fans react to DiJonai Carrington’s post after ejection for hard foul on Sophie Cunningham
This is not the first time Carrington has been caught up in a controversial moment. A couple of years ago, she was heavily criticized for her dirty play when she poked Caitlin Clark in the eye. While the incident that took place on Saturday was different, it was still a questionable act even if it was not intentional.
Carrington may have taken down the post, but WNBA fans took to social media to react to it by then.
That’s a textbook flagrant 2. She has to do better than to bring race or white privilege into that. That would happen if that was a black player as well.

That's not white privilege, that's an unnecessary foul. None of y'all have the hops to trying to block shots in a chase down. The flagrant 3 should be added just for attempting to do something that you knew was impossible.

She open the door for idiots to idiot after her idiotic remarks. No need for that . She made a play that connected with the opponents head and neck area. I feel like a suspension would definitely be in play for this negligent and irresponsible comment.

So an obvious flagrant that could’ve seriously injured Sophie is white privilege because she is Caucasian? Yeah she’s next level stupid.

She didn’t dare say that shit on X because she would have been lit on fire for it

Fans criticized Carrington for using the race card. They believe the foul warranted a Flagrant 2 call and that she deservedly got ejected from the game.
Sophie Cunningham speaks out against DiJonai Carrington after her ‘White privilege’ post
Sophie Cunningham has been in the headlines a lot lately. Her remarks regarding the participation of transgender athletes in women’s sports brought in some controversy. On Saturday, she was on the receiving end of a controversial foul that warranted an ejection.

After Carrington’s ‘White Privilege’ post captured several eyeballs, Cunningham responded to it in her press conference.
I think the league is taking care of that. This has nothing to do with race. Last year, I did the same thing and I got kicked out. And I deserved to be kicked out. There’s no reason even to play that card.
