Cooper Flagg was drafted by the Dallas Mavericks as the number one overall pick in the 2025 NBA draft. He lived up to the pre-draft hype and impressed the NBA world with his performances in his rookie season.
It was a difficult 2025-26 campaign for the Mavs both on and off the court. They missed the playoffs for the second straight season, finishing 12th in the Western Conference with a 26-56 record. However, Flagg was the lone bright spark for the Mavs.
The Mavs are rebuilding their team around Flagg. His performances showed that he can be the face of the franchise after the shocking trade of Luka Doncic to the Los Angeles Lakers at the trade deadline last year.
Recently, a collectible NBA rookie card of Flagg changed the life of Jason Williams from South Carolina. The card, which Flagg signed during Fanatics Fest, drew a lot of attention. Even the Mavs offered a hefty package in exchange for it. Williams does not plan to rush to sell the Flagg card and is weighing the opportunities this find could bring to him and his family.

Flagg’s rookie season has shown that he is a superstar in the making. With no Kyrie Irving and Anthony Davis by his side, the young star had to lead his team. He led his team in total points, rebounds, assists, and steals. Hence, he became the first rookie since Michael Jordan to lead his team in all four categories.
He was named Rookie of the Year as he averaged 21 points, 6.7 rebounds, and 4.5 assists in 70 appearances. During the 2025-26 campaign, Flagg broke multiple records for a rookie.
Fans react to Cooper Flagg’s 1-of-1 rookie card owner not cashing in despite huge offers
Williams, the current owner of the card, has drawn a lot of attention since getting hold of the unique card. Some have speculated it could be worth as much as $3 million. The father of five said he is looking forward to ‘sharing the experience’ with his kids rather than selling it.
After declining several offers, fans were caught reacting to the news across social media.

Well of course he’s turning down $1.5m offers for the card there are public bounty offers more than double that for it 🤣

Respect. Most of us would’ve sold that card in two seconds for the $1.5M. Dude’s choosing the memories with his kids instead. Rare energy 🔥

Several fans were surprised that Williams hadn’t cashed in on the card yet, despite some big offers. Some applauded him for holding on to it, as the value is expected to increase over time.
Cooper Flagg hits the gym with a healthy Kyrie Irving
It has been over a year since Kyrie Irving was last seen on an NBA court. He tore his ACL last year and missed the entire 2025-26 campaign. While there have been rumors regarding Irving’s future with the Mavs, it looks like he will be playing alongside Cooper Flagg next season.

After enjoying his summer, Flagg checked in during his first NBA offseason and has already spent some time with Irving in the gym. He spoke about his excitement about playing alongside the former champion.
Being able to get in the gym with Kyrie this offseason, he’s back healthy. Kyrie is obviously one of the greats, so just to be able to share the floor with him and learn from him on the fly and be able to go out there and compete, it’s gonna be a lot of fun.
