Mark Cuban had initially defended Steve Ballmer from Pablo Torre's accusations when the scandal broke last year.

When Pablo Torre first released his findings about the Los Angeles Clippers circumventing the salary cap to sign Kawhi Leonard, Dallas Mavericks minority owner Mark Cuban raised objections to it.

The investigative journalist found that the two-time Finals MVP had, through his uncle, Dennis Robertson, placed several demands with the Inglewood-based team.

They had also placed similar demands on both the Toronto Raptors and the Los Angeles Lakers, who were also in the running to sign Leonard in the 2019 free agency.

However, the latter two declined, leaving the Clippers a free shot at nabbing the forward. But to complete the deal, owner Steve Ballmer, through his investments in the carbon-credit company Aspiration, funneled millions of dollars towards his new superstar.

At the time, Cuban first alleged that his fellow team owner was scammed, much like all the others who invested in Aspiration. The billionaire appeared on Pablo Torre’s podcast and soon flamed him for going with whatever scammers told him and not investigating Ballmer or the Clippers’ side of the story.

Congrats Pablo.

This was after the NBA released its findings and then slapped massive fines on the Los Angeles Clippers while also docking first-round picks and suspensions for Steve Ballmer and his top executives.

It seems Mark Cuban took the loss on the chin and decided to congratulate Pablo Torre for coming out as a winner. After all, his investigations have now been proven true, and all those attempts to dismiss the investigative journalist have ended with the biggest scandal to rock modern-day sports.

Pablo Torre responds with cheeky invite to Mark Cuban

Mark Cuban has not built his wealth based on pure reactions. He is thoughtful, at least with most of the things he does, both privately and publicly. Therefore, he was fully aware that he would be getting some backlash once he posted this message to Pablo Torre.

From fans to journalists, thousands came forward to bring receipts of his past support for Steve Ballmer. Or they brought up questions of whether Cuban was involved in salary cap circumvention when he ran the Mavericks. But Torre had his own cheeky way to get back at the 68-year-old.

Pablo Torre replied

Torre added a link to a YouTube live session where he and his fellow podcast colleagues would be talking about the NBA’s ruling, what other things the investigative report revealed, and the punishments.

Pablo Torre hints at more details on Kawhi Leonard-Clippers’ deals

Even though Mark Cuban did not join the live discussion on YouTube, Pablo Torre went ahead with his podcast, where he said this before diving into the details from the NBA’s report.

There is more to come than is in the NBA’s report. This is not everything; there is still more… There are things that we have been investigating.

Torre revealed

He did mention that he is not sure if he or his team should continue the investigation, considering the NBA has done its part to penalize the Clippers, Steve Ballmer, and Kawhi Leonard.

But if there is more evidence of further salary cap circumvention methods, then there is a chance it could lead to further disruptions for all three parties involved.

Leonard’s trade to the Raptors is still to be approved, and any further sanctions could scupper the Canadian franchise’s chances of competing with the superstar who brought them their only championship to date.
