Patrick Beverley Offers His Services to Point Guard-Starved Miami Heat
Patrick Beverley fears even Giannis Antetokounmpo can’t help the Heat if they don’t fix one weakness.

It has been over two years since Patrick Beverley played in the NBA. His last stint was with the Milwaukee Bucks in the 2023-24 campaign. Since then, he has played in Israel and Greece and is currently playing in France.
Beverley has played 12 seasons in the NBA. His best season came in 2020-21, when he played an instrumental role for the Los Angeles Clippers in their run to the Western Conference Finals.
However, it appears that the former second-round pick is open to joining the Miami Heat for the upcoming season. The Heat have made several roster changes this summer after their poor 2025-26 campaign.
During a recent episode of the ‘Thanalysis Show,’ Beverley shared what the Heat need to truly become a championship contender next season.
I like Miami. They need 1 or 2 more pieces imma be honest. They need a PG. If Miami doesn’t have a PG in the playoffs and they’re losing, the thing I’ve understood about superstars is if Giannis goes into ‘give me the ball mode’ he needs help. I like Davion Mitchell as a starting PG but behind him they need a veteran PG.

The Heat kicked off their summer by trading for Giannis Antetokounmpo in a blockbuster deal from the Milwaukee Bucks. A number of moves were expected as the Heat built their roster around their frontcourt duo of Antetokounmpo and Bam Adebayo.
They needed to surround their big men with shooters and signed Klay Thompson in free agency. The move generated a lot of excitement, as many believe that the Heat are now well equipped to contend for a championship.
However, Beverley believes that without a veteran point guard, the Heat will struggle in the playoffs. While they do have Davion Mitchell as their point guard, it is possible that Beverley was making himself available due to his veteran experience.
Fans react to Patrick Beverley’s warning to the Heat’s championship hopes
Davion Mitchell entered the NBA as the ninth pick in the 2021 NBA draft. After five seasons in the league, he still hasn’t made a mark. Beverley believes that with a veteran point guard behind Mitchell, it could benefit the Heat in the long run.
Following his warning, NBA fans reacted to his comments on social media.
They need @ZO2_ just to manage the game, distribute the ball, & shoot open 3’s .. they don’t need nothin else from him!! (As long as he healthy enough to at least get up and down the floor). He 100% can be the glue.

I think they’ll be fine with DM… tho he’s undersized, he’s an amazing POA defender and wont need to initiate the offensive with Bam and Giannis there

They should’ve perused Ben Simmons for playmaking

While some fans agreed with Beverley that the Heat need an experienced point guard, others believe the upcoming campaign could be a breakout season for Mitchell. With Antetokounmpo’s arrival, Heat Nation expects the organization to make a stunning postseason run next year.
Patrick Beverley claims that he started something special in the Minnesota Timberwolves
After his surprising exit from the Clippers, Patrick Beverley ended up signing a $13 million deal to join the Minnesota Timberwolves. During his time in Minnesota, he became a fan favorite in the city and played an important role in taking them to the playoffs for the first time in 16 years in the 2021-22 season.

While speaking about his tenure with the Wolves, Beverley believes that he had a role to play in their future success.
That starting five we had was arguably the best starting five in the NBA that year. Me, D’Angelo Russell, Anthony Edwards, Jarred Vanderbilt, Karl-Anthony Towns. They saw what I’ve been trying to show people, what I do for organizations, I give them a little juice. They haven’t missed the playoffs since I got there. I’m not saying it’s all me, but I started something in Minnesota for sure.
