Anne Hathaway is a huge New York Knicks fan. She has been labeled a Knicks superfan because of her immense support and is often seen courtside whenever the Knicks play at Madison Square Garden.

The Knicks fanbase is having their best summer in a long time. It may have been their third championship, but it meant a lot more because it was their first title since 1973. Not only did they win the championship, but they did it in style.

Hathaway appeared on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon before the NBA Finals. They spoke about the Knicks once again, but this time they were crowned champions.

During the show, Fallon surprised the Hollywood star with a signed Knicks jersey from OG Anunoby. He said,

You gave the Knicks a pep talk here. And then every headline was all you. ‘OG Anunoby enjoys Anne Hathaway effect in Knicks Game 6 win over the Hawks’. Well, we had the Knicks on the show, and OG was on the show. I wanted to surprise you. He autographed a jersey for you.

Hathaway and Anunoby share a fan-player connection with each other. It started with a court-side near-collision a couple of years ago at MSG. She called it a bucket-list moment even though the collision spilled her snacks.

She was left surprised when Fallon handed her a signed Anunoby Knicks jersey. She immediately wore it over her dress and received huge cheers from the crowd. She also received a baby basket from the New York Knicks as she is currently pregnant. Anunoby signed a card and wished her well.

Anne Hathaway chooses between another Knicks title or winning another Oscar

Anne Hathaway is one of the finest actors in Hollywood. Several Hollywood stars are Knicks fans, including Timothee Chalamet and Ben Stiller, and are often labeled Knicks superfans.

Many praised the Knicks’ latest championship. While their fanbase has some of the most passionate fans in the NBA, the championship parade united the city of New York like never before.

During a game on The Tonight Show, Hathaway was asked to choose between another Oscar win and another Knicks championship. After a brief moment of deliberation, she picked the Knicks winning another title and said:

I’m actually, like, the way my nervous system is reacting to that choice is really intense.

Hathaway is not the first Hollywood star to pick a Knicks championship over an Oscar win. Right after lifting the title, Chalamet said that the feeling of the Knicks winning the championship meant a lot more than an Oscar win.

While Hathaway picked the Knicks winning a championship over her second Oscar win, she may well win her award first. She’s expected to garner Academy Award consideration for her recent roles in The Odyssey and The Devil Wears Prada 2.

It has been a long wait, but the Knicks are finally at the top of the NBA world once again. It was a historic run that saw them clean-sweep the Philadelphia 76ers and Cleveland Cavaliers in the second and third rounds, respectively. They were seen as the underdogs against the San Antonio Spurs in the NBA Finals before beating them in five games.

However, the Eastern Conference has gotten a lot harder after a number of teams have bolstered their rosters in the summer. One of them is the Miami Heat, who made one of the biggest moves of the offseason by trading for Giannis Antetokounmpo from the Milwaukee Bucks.

With less than a month to go for the new season, Antetokounmpo called the Knicks the best team in the NBA.

I care about being a winner. And when you’re a winner, then I can have a conversation and tell you ‘I am the best,’ and you ask me why and I say ‘Because I won.’ Right now the best team in the NBA is the New York Knicks and they have one of the best players in Jalen Brunson.

Antetokounmpo and the Heat will be determined to knock out the Knicks next year. Meanwhile, the Knicks will be looking to win back-to-back championships and become the first team to do so since the Golden State Warriors in 2018.
