UFC 334 in November will see controversial fighter, Josh Hokit, get a title shot against Ciryl Gane. Former middleweight and light heavyweight champion, Alex Pereira, was upset about that title shot. He accused Dana White and Daniel Cormier of pushing for Hokit’s title shot.

Former UFC double champion, Henry Cejudo, didn’t like that accusation. Moreover, he didn’t like how Hokit got the title shot as well. As such, Cejudo felt that ‘Poatan’ already got his title shot at UFC Freedom 250, which he lost.

You skipped the line long enough, you had your opportunity against Ciryl Gane and then you lost. Yeah, there were illegal blows. But man, that jab from Gane wobbled you. Like we kind of saw where the fight was more likely going. I feel like you need to win at least two or three more to fight for the title. I think there’s a lot of people in line.

As soon as he completed his rant on Pereira’s complaints, Henry Cejudo targeted Hokit soon after. He said Hokit’s title shot reflected what the casual fanbase of the sport liked to see.

That’s what the casuals want. And now they are doing it with Josh Hokit. He’s bringing that different bravado of talking, of selling a fight, of ‘Chama on yo Mama’ stupid (expletive) like that like Michelle Obama… it’s crazy but craziness in this sport is what sells. Craziness in this sport is what sells.

‘Triple C’ felt that the promotion wanted champions like Pereira or Hokit to appease the casual fanbase. If Hokit defeats Gane at UFC 334, Cejudo felt that Pereira could get the next title shot.

‘Poatan’ is booked to face Sergei Pavlovich in the co-main event of UFC 335 in December. A win over the Russian KO artist can put Pereira in the title picture at heavyweight to become a triple champion.

Meanwhile, Hokit has come a long way after getting his UFC contract on Dana White’s Contender Series in August last year.

Wins over perennial contenders like Curtis Blaydes and Derrick Lewis helped him get the title shot in a short amount of time.

His trash-talking persona is something that many fighters take an issue with. Recently, Bruce Buffer called him out for the Michelle Obama controversy. Hokit had harsh words for the veteran announcer.

Josh Hokit fires back at ‘Voice of UFC’ Bruce Buffer

In a livestream with influencer N3on, Bruce Buffer stated that he was not a fan of Josh Hokit. Buffer wanted the heavyweight star to show some class. He pinpointed the Michelle Obama controversy and felt that society was decaying because of these personalities.

As usual, Hokit didn’t like the comments from the veteran announcer. He reiterated that he had no criminal records unlike other UFC stars who Buffer chose to ignore. The likes of Jon Jones, Gable Steveson and Conor McGregor always got the highest of praise from Buffer.

Hokit thought that was hypocritical. ‘The Incredible Hok’ also felt that fighters should be the last role models for any person. Buffer hasn’t responded to Hokit’s reply so far. Fan reaction to the Hokit vs Buffer drama were also mixed with some supporting the heavyweight.

Just like any other opponent, Gane has faced some heavy diss from Hokit on social media. Ahead of the pre-fight press conference for UFC 334, Hokit wrote an 8-line poem to diss the Frenchman.

‘The Incredible Hok’ made sure to reference the eye pokes from the heavyweight champion as a response to fear. It remains to be seen what the Frenchman will have to endure when they appear for the presser.
