Alexander Volkanovski cruised to victory at UFC 333 after easily demolishing Movsar Evloev under two rounds. The 38-year-old looked composed from the beginning before stunning the Russian on the feet and pounding his head on the ground to secure the stoppage win.

Before UFC 333, Volkanovski spoke about wanting to challenge lightweight champion, Justin Gaethje, in a retirement fight. Volk has always wanted to be a double champion and lost twice to Islam Makhachev in that pursuit.

In his second title reign at 145lbs, ‘The Great’ bested Diego Lopes twice and now TKO’d Evloev at UFC 333. At the moment, Jean Silva is the only other featherweight contender on the cusp of a title shot. As such, Volk issued another callout to Gaethje about a superfight before retiring.

I haven’t heard him say anything about it, obviously he’s enjoying himself doing his thing. I don’t want to disrupt him too much. But hey, if you are thinking of doing something like that if we wanted to retire together, a super fight, have a bit of fun and let the divisions do their thing we can go save the last dance with each other and get stuck into it.

Volkanovski believes that his fight against Gaethje can absolutely happen without holding up both divisions. There is also Arman Tsarukyan waiting in the wings for a lightweight title shot. As such, the top brass of UFC has some big decisions to make.

UFC CEO Dana White previously liked the idea of Volkanovski fighting for the lightweight title again. White felt that it was difficult to say no to someone like Volk who has accomplished great things in the UFC. During the post-fight presser of UFC 333, White repeated a similar sentiment.

Meanwhile, Justin Gaethje is looking for a massive payday to continue his MMA career. A superfight against Volkanovski will surely bring monetary benefits to ‘The Highlight.’ It is up to the promotion to make a worthwhile offer to make this superfight become reality.

Alexander Volkanovski fought through illness at UFC 333

Movsar Evloev was undefeated in the UFC till he ran into Alexander Volkanovski. No one was able to dish out damage to the Russian quite like Volk did.

The 38-year-old also made an interesting revelation after defeating Evloev at UFC 333. A reporter asked him about the murmurs online about the champion getting sick.

Good enough to get out there and get it done… It was funny, I started getting sick, I was like, oh well, at least, you know, it would have been too easy if I wasn’t sick.

The two-time featherweight champion outlanded Evloev in significant strikes and kept getting back up after the Russian took him down. The Australian MMA legend did exactly what he promised before UFC 333. Being sick only made him perform even better as no one has finished Evloev all this time.

Daniel Cormier issues huge praise to Alexander Volkanovski for defeating Movsar Evloev

There were 10 fighters in the featherweight division that failed to stop Movsar Evloev in the UFC. In recent years, many fighters also refused to fight him as well.

Volkanovski never shied away from that challenge and wanted to fight Evloev some time ago. To that end, he also called out UFC matchmakers for snubbing deserving contenders. This is why Daniel Cormier praised Volk for his performance at UFC 333.

I don’t even have the words to describe his greatness… He goes in there against an undefeated guy who so many people did not want to fight. Not only does he win the fight, he finishes him in the second round.

Competing against younger fighters become difficult in MMA as a person’s age progresses. As such, ‘DC’ admitted that it was super impressive to see Volk compete at the highest level at the age of 38. MMA fans are eagerly awaiting to see what Volk will do next in his career.
