2012 NASCAR Cup Series champion Brad Keselowski announcing his exit from RFK Racing, ending his successful tenure as an owner-driver at RFK Racing was one of the most shocking revelations of the season. The spilt happened over the veteran’s dreams extending his racing career beyond what his co-owners expected.
Following the announcement, the veteran who is still looking for a new team, tried to buy the tram outright. But the RFK ownership group refused to accept the bid from the racer that currently owns 20% of the team. One major reason for the decision was the valuation, as the 23XI-FRM charter lawsuit settlement has increased the value beyond anyone’s expectations in 12 months.
There’s a lot of interest in this sport right now, tremendous interest in this sport on the ownership front, and it’s never been hotter. We didn’t necessarily get there as an industry the way I think we’d like to have got there with the different lawsuits and all those things, but the closing of the (NASCAR, 23XI, FRM antitrust) lawsuit here in the last 12 months has dramatically affected the perception of the sport, in particular in New York City and where a lot of these big investment firms are.
Brad Keselowski said.
Before the settlement made the charters evergreen, the interest for ownership in the sport was as worst as it ever been for a decade. Now that the asset has become more stable, the value has increased dramatically, with more outside investors showing willingness to invest. Brad Keselowski predicts more changes to valuation due to some significant upcoming announcements.
The sport is now viewed as an asset, an ownership asset that has certainty and has a level of stability and the valuations have dramatically increased along with interest. So that’s not unique to my situation. I think there’s a couple of announcements that are going to come out here in the next few months in a similar vein and the sport’s going to feel the effect of that, I think in a very positive way shortly.

Brad Keselowski shares his future goals
Later in the same conversation, the veteran talked about his future plans and expectations with the new team in 2027. He wants to contend for wins, not just as a racer, but also as a team owner/leader. The veteran wants his legacy to be more than just a racer.

I want to contend for wins. I want to contend for wins as a driver, an owner, an operator, a manager, all the above. I want to be a part of seeing people be successful. I want to be a part of writing the script that is the future of this sport so that it can endure hopefully for decades and generations to come.
Brad Keselowski said.
The team that would give him the opportunity to achieve those goals will secure his signature. Signing the veteran will be positive investment, considering he is capable of developing a midfield to a race win contender with his efforts on and off the track.
That’s probably what I value the most. I’ve given a big part of my life to this sport and I have a love for it and it’s fans and everything that makes it go. I want to be a part of that lifestyle and that privilege for many years to come.
Brad Keselowski added.
RFK as a team is going to miss the veteran after the 2026 season, as Keselowski made them more of professional side operating with the same standards as Team Penske Racing. Failure of build on those changes might result in Jack Roush team yet again getting stuck in mediocrity. It would be interesting to see how everything is going to playout for the racer and his current team in the coming years.
