Ludmilla Samsonova beat the Russian in the qualifications at the Cincinnati Open.

In the first round match-up, Ashleigh Barty is the clear favorite to win. Despite the fact that Vera Zvonareva is a seasoned combatant, she has struggled for form in recent years. Barty, on the other hand, is in top form, having won two big titles in less than two months.
