Usain Bolt calls on Sha’Carri Richardson to back up her “big talk”

Usain Bolt and Sha’Carri Richardson
Having missed out on the Tokyo Olympics, Sha’Carri Richardson is back in action. She returned to the track after her suspension at the Prefontaine Classic at Hayward Field in Eugene. But it was not a fairytale comeback as she finished last in the 100m sprint. After a bitter loss, Richardson came up with some strong words to silence her critics which went viral.
Legendary sprinter Usain Bolt has some advice for Sha’Carri Richardson . Bolt seemed unimpressed by her post race comments as he advised Richardson to work hard and walk the talk. The world record holder asserts that the only way to actually silence the critics is by performing.
“I would tell Sha’Carri to train harder and to be focused and not say too much… If you talk that big talk you have to back it up. So just train hard and focus on that and try to come back do it and then talk about it,” said Bolt.
“Jamaicans don’t like when people talk s–t about us,” Usain Bolt

Jamaicans and Americans share a deep rivalry on the track. Sha’Carri Richardson’s comments didn’t go down well with the her Jamaican rivals Elaine Thompson-Herah and Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce. Bolt feels that it was the American’s pre game antics that provided her Jamican counterparts the push to perform even well.
“Jamaicans were vexed because she was talking a lot of s–t before the actual race, it is just one of those things,” he said. “Jamaicans don’t like when people talk s–t about us because we are a very proud people. So if you talk about us we are gonna want you to back it up. It definitely gave those women the extra push.”
Richardson’s return coincided with Usain Bolt’s 35th birthday on August 21. The legendary Jamaican shared that he and hs friends dropped everything to watch the race. While Bolt expected Elaine to come out victorious, he admits that he didn’t see the Sha’Carri Richardson’s last place finish coming.
“I actually watched the race it was on my birthday … so all my friends were there. We stopped everything just to watch the race. I knew Elaine [Thompson-Herah] was going to win.“
“I knew she was going to run a fast time but I didn’t expect Sha’ Carri to come in last though. But it was like, ‘Oh s–t’ but the memes kept coming quick. You know Jamaicans they were laughing and just going in at her [Richardson]. It was just one of those things.“
