Serie A: Juventus vs Sampdoria player ratings as Juventus sneakily win 3-2 against Sampdoria

Juventus played Sampdoria for their sixth encounter of their Serie A campaign at Juventus Stadium. This being a home game proved to be a morale boost for Juventus. With a fan support in the entire stadium that had their back, the home team didn’t disappoint.

Juventus started the proceedings with a goal in the 10th minute of the match. Paulo Dybala strikes the ball low to take it past Audero and into the bottom right corner to gain the lead. That start was later doubled after the Juventus captain, Leonardo Bonucci, scored the penalty with sheer comfort.

However, a gallantry effort by Sampdoria defender Maya Yoshida paid off a couple of minutes later after the home team doubled their lead. He thumped his header past Perin and went into the back of the net to make it 2-1.

As the second half began, Manuel Locatelli makes it 3-1 for Juventus. He gets an open net to aim at when it was laid off to him and he does it with ease. As the minutes went by, the pressure kept building on Sampdoria. And at that moment, they pulled back another one courtesy of a bottom corner scorcher by Antonio Candreva.

However, despite the tough fight by Sampdoria, Juventus win the match 3-2 as the final whistle blew. With that, let’s have a look at how the players performed :

Juventus

Mattia Perin (GK) (6/10) : Not the best possible performance with the gloves by Mattia Perin. He conceded two goals which could’ve been dealt with in a much better way.

Juan Cuadrado (7.3/10) : Cuadrado was the backbone of Juventus side when it came to moving the ball around and passing. He was successful at every long ball he provided but he did lose possession on way too many occasions.

Leonardo Bonucci (6.8/10) : Bonucci took the responsibility on his shoulders to send the keeper the wrong way in the spot kick and doubled the lead for his side. Apart from that, he did a decent job with defending.

Matthijs de Ligt (6.8/10) : Matthijs de Ligt was a delight to watch when he went on to take the Ariel challenges against the Sampdoria players. He also made valuable clearences but couldn’t help his team with the goals they conceded.

Alex Sandro (6.6/10) : A decent job on the field in the black and white. He did contribute as and when the opportunity struck but didn’t impact the match in a deep manner.

Federico Chiesa (6.2/10) : The italian didn’t have the best of matches in the league. He missed a huge opportunity of goal which could’ve kept his team in the driver’s seat. He later got substituted in the 70th minute.

Manuel Locatelli (7.8/10) : Locatelli assisted the opening goal of the match to Dybala and later followed it with a beauty himself. He receives an assist by Kulusevski and when the open net is laid off to him to aim at, he makes it 3-1.

Rodrigo Bentancur (7/10) : Rodrigo didn’t hesitate to take on the midfielders. He challenged a few ground and ariel duels and did a fairly good job at it. He also had a good attempt at goal but was saved comfortably by Audero.

Federico Bernardeschi (6.4/10) : Federico walks back in the 70th minute after having a tough time on the field. He didn’t do a good job at duels while constantly losing possession for Juventus.

Paulo Dybala (7.5/10) : Dybala received an assist from Locatelli which he converted into a low effort to take it past Audero and into the bottom right corner to gain the lead for the home side. However due to an unfortunate injury in the 22nd minute he had to leave the ground.

Álvaro Morata (6.8/10) : Morata undoubtedly kept going at it and kept attempting for goals but after three attempts at goal, he failed to get any past Audero.

Substitutes

Dejan Kulusevski (6.4/10) : The super substitute provided a fabulous assist to Locatelli to bring Juventus their third goal of the match.

Aaron Ramsey (6.3/10) : Ramsey didn’t get too much time on the field. He was barely involved in a fierce attack at goal, but he did a decent job staying out in the middle and contributing in every way possible.

Giorgio Chiellini (6.5/10) : Chiellini showed good determination as he walked in the walked in the 70th minute. He made clearences and did a good job steering the ball clear of the box in the final minutes.

Emil Audero (GK) (6/10) : Audero failed to hang on to the balls that kept coming at him and ended up conceding two goals which could’ve been saved, might have been a better attempt at it.

Bartosz Bereszyński (6.6/10) : Bartosz was really good with his tackles and taking on ground challenges but found it difficult to work with the other defenders to keep the ball clear of their box.

Omar Colley (6.5/10) : Omar had an extremely busy day defending. He made as many as five clearences and won the tackle battles one too many times. He did everything possible to win the ball but one error from his end costed them a goal.

Maya Yoshida (7.6/10) : Maya Yoshida pulled one back in before halftime for Sampdoria as he received a magnificent ball by Candreva and he headed it past Perin to make it 2-1.

Nicola Murru (5.5/10) : Just not the right day for Nicola Murru. He gave away too many balls and whatever he tried to do good ended up being the opposite. A mistake on his end costed his team a penalty which doubled the lead for Juventus.

Fabio Depaoli (6.2/10) : Fabio too walked back in the 59th minute. He did well with few things in the match but he failed consecutively in the others and lacked the confidence that was necessary in the midfield.

Morten Thorsby (6.4/10) : Morten was a risk-taking midfielder for Sampdoria. He didn’t hesitate taking on the players for Ariel and ground duels. However, he did an average job at that.

Albin Ekdal (7/10) : Albin got just 59 minutes of gameplay for his team. He didn’t get much on his plate but managed to get a go at goal but was way off target.

Antonio Candreva (7.9/10) : Antonio provided Yoshida a magnificent delivery to pull a goal back in the first half. He later pulled one back himself with a low-effort bottom corner finish and made it 3-2. However, that’s all they could do by the final whistle.

Francesco Caputo (6.5/10) : Not the best day for the striker as he just got the one shot at goal despite giving his all in. Even with that attempt, he was off target.

Fabio Quagliarella (6.9/10) : Fabio neither created bigger opportunities nor got any attempts himself at goal. He did get an on target attempt but was keeping practice for Perin.

Substitutes

Tommaso Augello (6.8/10) : Augello walked in and did really well with his clearences and on spot passing. He also did a commendable job at winning ground and ariel duels.

Mikkel Damsgaard (6.6/10) : Damsgaard did well to keep the ball in his control but found it real difficult to take on the ground challenges.

Adrien Silva (6.9/10) : Adrien did a really good job walking in and providing a valuable assist to Candreva to bring the scoreline to 3-2.

Ernesto Torregrossa (6.8/10) : Ernesto didn’t have too much time on the field but he surely did the best he could to help Sampdoria keep the ball in possession and moving.
