Micah Parsons tore up the NFL in his rookie season for the Dallas Cowboys. While he was selected #12 overall, he more than lived up to the expectations that come with being drafted so high.

His 84 tackles, 20 tackles for loss, and 13 sacks set him apart in the rookie class as he unanimously won the Defensive Rookie of the Year award. Along with that he also had 30 QB hits to further emphasize his presence as a pass rusher. Simply put, he was lights out in 2021.

When it came to the playoffs, the Dallas Cowboys once again failed to show up. While a final score of 23-17 indicates a close game, Dallas was never really in it. They struggled to get any offense going for much of the game. The defense finally capitalized on some late-game mistakes by the Niners to give them a chance.

In the end, it was too little too late as the Cowboys fell at home in their first playoff game. While people certainly thought the 49ers would be a tough matchup for Dallas, this was still a team that could’ve made a deep run in the playoffs this season. Micah Parsons recently comment about that loss and what went wrong.

Appearing on the ‘Rich Eisen Show’, Micah Parson was quoted saying “I don’t like to blame it on defining moments because there were so many. Third down penalties, not handing the ball to the ref, the turnovers. I don’t think we came out to play championship football.”

Parsons further added “I wouldn’t say it was lack of preparation but in games like that, every yard matters. I just think we gave up too much free stuff. In a game like that, you have to work for every yard and every down, things like that. There was a lot of pressure but, I still don’t like to make excuses. You still have to win that game, that’s tough.”

Micah Parsons was very honest about the way the game went. Because, while the Cowboys were never really in it, there were a lot of mental errors that ended up costing them. It’s something that they need to use as a learning experience and for motivation for the 2022 season to ensure they come back even stronger and deliver what’s expected of them.
