Correction Policy

At FirstSportz, accuracy is central to our journalism. We strive to publish information that is accurate, fair, and based on the best information available at the time of publication.

However, errors can occur. When we identify a factual error or when a credible concern is brought to our attention, we review the information and take appropriate action as promptly as possible.

This Corrections Policy explains how FirstSportz handles corrections, clarifications, editor’s notes, updates, and requests to amend published content.

Our Approach to Corrections

When an error is identified in a published article, headline, caption, image, video, graphic, social media post, or other editorial content, our editorial team will review the issue.

If an error is confirmed, we will correct it as soon as reasonably possible.

Depending on the nature and significance of the error, we may:

  • Correct the information directly in the published content.
  • Add a correction note explaining what was changed.
  • Add a clarification where the original information was technically accurate but unclear, incomplete, or imprecisely presented.
  • Add an editor’s note when a significant correction or editorial issue requires additional context for readers.
  • Update related headlines, captions, images, graphics, videos, or social media posts where necessary.

We aim to make significant corrections transparent to readers rather than silently altering information that could materially change the meaning of a published report.

Minor Corrections

Minor errors that do not materially affect the meaning or understanding of an article may be corrected without a formal correction notice.

These may include typographical errors, formatting issues, spelling mistakes, or other minor inaccuracies that do not substantially change the substance of the report.

Significant Corrections

When an error materially affects the facts, context, meaning, or interpretation of a published report, we will correct the information and, where appropriate, include a correction notice.

The notice may explain:

  • What information was incorrect.
  • What has been corrected or updated.
  • Any additional context necessary for readers to understand the change.

Correction notices will generally be placed within the article or in another clearly visible location associated with the published content.

Clarifications

A clarification may be added when the information in a report is substantially accurate, but the wording, context, or presentation could reasonably cause confusion or lead to a misunderstanding.

Clarifications may also be used when additional relevant information, context, or a response from an individual or organization becomes available after publication.

Editor’s Notes

In exceptional cases, an editor’s note may be added to provide readers with important context regarding a significant correction, editorial concern, ethical issue, or other matter affecting the integrity or interpretation of a published report.

The decision to add an editor’s note will be made by the appropriate editorial leadership.

Updates to Developing Stories

News stories may be updated as new information becomes available.

Not every update represents a correction. Routine updates, including new comments, statements, developments, scores, results, or other additional information, may be incorporated into an article without being labeled as corrections.

However, when previously published factual information is found to be incorrect, we will treat the matter as a correction or clarification where appropriate.

Corrections on Social Media

If FirstSportz publishes incorrect information on a social media platform, we will take appropriate action to correct the error.

Depending on the platform and the nature of the error, this may include:

  • Editing the post where editing is possible.
  • Publishing a correction or clarification.
  • Deleting the incorrect post when it cannot be appropriately corrected.

Where practical and appropriate, we will make reasonable efforts to ensure that the correction reaches the audience of the original post.

Reporting an Error

We encourage readers to notify us if they believe that information published by FirstSportz is inaccurate.

To report a potential error, readers can contact our editorial team at:

[email protected]

When possible, please include:

  • The URL or title of the relevant article or content.
  • A description of the information you believe is incorrect.
  • Supporting information, sources, or documentation, if available.

All credible correction requests will be reviewed by our editorial team.

Requests to Update or Remove Content

As a general editorial principle, FirstSportz does not remove published articles solely because an individual or organization disagrees with the content, finds it unfavorable, or wishes for previously published information to no longer be publicly available.

If a factual error is identified, we will review the matter and make a correction, clarification, or other editorial update where appropriate.

We may also review requests involving privacy, personal safety, legal obligations, or other exceptional circumstances on a case-by-case basis.

We reserve the right to remove, modify, or update content when required by law or when doing so is considered necessary under our editorial standards.

Our Commitment to Accuracy

We take our responsibility to readers seriously and believe that correcting errors transparently is an important part of responsible journalism.

Our goal is not only to correct inaccurate information when errors occur, but also to ensure that readers have access to the most accurate and up-to-date information reasonably available.

This Corrections Policy may be updated from time to time to reflect changes in our editorial practices and standards.
