Deepika Rasangika creates World record by scoring an unbeaten 161 in Women’s T20I match

Deepika Rasangika

Deepika Rasangika played for the Sri Lanka women’s national cricket team in more than 60 matches between 2008 and 2014, including selection for the 2009 Women’s Cricket World Cup. Deepika Rasangika broke multiple records due to this unbeaten century. Breaking Alyssa Healy’s unbeaten record of 148, she is now the highest scorer in a women’s international Twenty20 match. Deepika Rasangika has never scored a century in T20I. Deepika Rasangika single-handedly hit 31 fours (a personal high of 20 earlier in an innings) and that too is an all-time record.

Deepika Rasangika did not give up after batting, she also took three wickets for nine runs with the ball in hand. There is no precedent for men and women to take three wickets after scoring more than 150 runs in all T20s. Deepika Rasangika is also the first in that respect. She became the first cricketer for Bahrain to score a century in WT20Is, and her total was the highest individual score in a WT20I match.

Known as the Universe Boss, Chris Gayle has scored the most runs in Twenty20 cricket, the highest individual score of any player in the format, and the most sixes and fours in the format. However, it is doubtful whether anyone would be able to beat such an impressive record in Twenty20 cricket. In 20-20 cricket, Afghanistan holds the record for most runs in an innings at 278 for three. This record was set in 2019 against Ireland. But today, a big record has been set in Women’s Twenty20 Cricket.

The record was set by Bahrain’s women’s cricket team, not just any of the most popular cricketing nations. Bahrain will play a match against Saudi Arabia in the Golf Cup Women’s Twenty20 Championship in the UAE on Tuesday (March 22nd). After winning the toss, Saudi captain Cheryl Siusankar invited Bahrain to bat first. Bahrain lost opener Rashika Rodrigo in the fifth over. Then the ordeal. Opener Tharanga Gajanay played an unbeaten 94 off 56 balls. On the other hand, Deepika Rasangika made an unbeaten 161 off 66 balls. Bahrain made a total of 318 runs for the loss of one wicket in the allotted 20 overs, which is the highest international T20 score.

Looking at the scorecard, it would seem that there was a flood of sixes in the match. Interestingly, the Bahraini stars did not hit a single six in this innings. Has hit a total of 50 fours (previously 34), which is the record for most four hits in a match. In response, the Saudi cricketers could not even cross the 50-run mark in their allotted 20 overs.
