“He is incredible,” Emma Raducanu heaps praise on Carlos Alcaraz, says he is a ‘very exciting’ player to watch

Emma Raducanu and Carlos Alcaraz
Emma Raducanu and Carlos Alcaraz are two of the most intriguing adolescent stars. The young Spaniard is already a top-10 player and appears to be headed for stardom, whilst the Brit has already won a slam. Raducanu noted in a recent interview that Carlos Alcaraz’s career improvement has been “incredible” and that he is a “very exciting” player to watch on the men’s tour.
“I think what he is doing is incredible”- Emma Raducanu

Raducanu, who astonished the sporting world in 2021 by winning the US Open, has relished following Alcaraz’s progress. In a recent interview with Eurosport, the Brit said, “I think what he is doing is incredible. But it is even more impressive how genuine and kind he is off the court. It is incredible how he is able to practically take the racquet out of his opponent’s hand, it is definitely very exciting.”
After an overwhelming straight-sets triumph over Marta Kostyuk in the third round of the clay-court Masters tournament, the British No. 1 says she simply wants to focus on what she is doing on the court. “The key word is patience. It’s clear that it’s been a year of changes,” she said.
“But right now I’m just focused on my game and what I do in training. The most important thing is when you have confidence in your game, in your shots, it is what really counts and not the rest. Just feel good about yourself,” the 19-year-old added.
Emma Raducanu is pleased with her improvement following a tumultuous six months marked by injuries and inconsistent results since winning the US Open. She added, “I am playing great tennis, I feel very confident in my game, but everything comes from the work I’ve been doing on the court during training in recent weeks.”
Carlos Alcaraz to compete in the Madrid Open

With his results this season, Carlos Alcaraz has firmly demonstrated himself as a leading candidate for major championships. In February, he won the Rio Open, followed by the Miami Open, when he won the biggest championship of his career. At the Monte-Carlo Masters, the teenager faltered and lost to Sebastian Korda. However, he made a strong comeback by winning the Barcelona Open. In the quarterfinals, Alcaraz overcame World No. 5 Stefanos Tsitsipas, then saved a number of match points in his semi-final victory over Alex de Minaur. He won the title by defeating compatriot Pablo Carreno Busta in straight sets.
Following his most recent success, he entered the top ten of the ATP rankings for the first time, peaking at No. 9. Last year, Alcaraz made his debut at the Madrid Open, losing in the second round to Rafael Nadal. This time around, he’s one of the favourites to reign supreme at Caja Magica.
