“We won’t need that high DRS power anymore ” Mick Schumacher sheds light on the overtaking opportunities available in Baku

Mick Schumacher
Mick Schumacher, son of the 7-time world champion Michael Schumacher, is wishful about the opportunities the new-gen cars will bring in terms of overtaking in Baku. Monaco being a slow street circuit lacked a lot in overtakes, with the walls just around the corner it has Monaco couldn’t provide much action. Baku on the other hand is a fast street circuit with a maximum speed going up to 340km/hr. With the last sector being a long straight till turn 1, cars this year could close on to it and try a lunge at the 1st corner, overtaking without DRS.
The 23-year-old provided the details for the same in a press release by the Haas team, “I would imagine to see more action and overtaking,” Mick said.
He continued getting hold of the DRS not being much of use this season, but the car being able to follow more quickly has got everything covered, ”We know that DRS this year isn’t as powerful as it used to be, but I’m sure with the cars being able to follow closer, we’ll be able to arrive or stay closer to the car ahead in the last part of the racetrack and then maybe we won’t need that high DRS power anymore to get by into T1,” he concluded.

Mick Schumacher excited for the Baku street circuit

Mick ended his Monaco GP with a huge crash almost getting his car in half but safely jumped out of it with not many injuries. Though he got a DNF in the street race, he is optimistic about the second consecutive street race. Schumacher junior after becoming a part of Formula 1 in 2021, has yet to open his points account. He has been a lot closer to points this season but hasn’t managed to cross the line yet.
On the other hand, his new teammate Kevin Magnussen has been on points a lot more frequently and has a total of 15 points and is P10 on the championship table. Haas having the credits of Kevin’s points is on P8 of the constructor champion.
