‘I have bad intentions’- Gilbert Burns vows to ‘beat the s**t’ out of Jorge Masvidal

Gilbert Burns has been active on social media, particularly following his UFC 264 victory against Stephen Thompson. Burns has already assumed the role of UFC matchmaker on social media, calling out Masvidal and garnering a positive response from ‘Gamebred.’

All he has to do now is wait for a date from his UFC bosses, he believes.  Burns went on to lose to Khamzat Chimaev at UFC 273 and is currently on the call-out list again. Burns took to Twitter last month and posted a picture of himself with Masvidal alongside a grand total of four pairs of eye emojis.

In a recent interview, with TMZ Burns claims that a fight with Masvidal makes sense because he is highly ranked and well-known. He stated, “I think Jorge Masvidal, he’s a big name, he’s the name that I’m looking forward to and I think we’ll put on a show. UFC is interested, he’s interested, I am. I think he got a little injury so we wait for him to get a little bit more recovery and we’ll move forward.”

When asked about how he felt the matchup would go, he stated, “I’m gonna finish it. I don’t care — whatever it takes. I like that feeling that I had in the last fight like man, the guy’s tough, the guy’s coming to finish, the guy has all the hype and I think Masvidal kind of gonna bring a little bit of the same,”

Gilbert is an IBJJF Gi and No-Gi World Champion and a black belt under Rafael Barros. Burns is a prominent contender for the UFC welterweight title and presently fights in the welterweight division. While Masvidal is a striker first and foremost. The Cuban-American, who used to fight bare-knuckle in the same Miami backyard circuit that brought us Kimbo Slice, has knocked out or TKO’d 16 opponents, including Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone, Darren Till, Ben Askren, and Nate Diaz.No doubt a fight against these two would be stylistically a treat for the MMA fans.
