“It’s practically impossible”- Atletico Madrid’s President snubs off all rumors linking Cristiano Ronaldo to the Spanish club

Enrique Cerezo, the president of Atletico Madrid, has dismissed rumors of a transfer for Manchester United superstar Cristiano Ronaldo.

The Atletico president made it quite apparent that a move for the 37-year-old to the Wanda Metropolitano Stadium was not feasible in an interview with El Partidazo de COPE.

He said, “I don’t know who invented this story about Cristiano Ronaldo to Atletico Madrid. It’s definitely not true. It’s practically impossible for him to come to Atletico de Madrid.”

The Portuguese star allegedly had discussions regarding his future with Manchester United club executives on July 26. Ronaldo’s future is still a hotly debated subject.

Those negotiations are reported to have come to a standstill since Manchester United is still unwilling to part with their top player (as per Telegraph). Ronaldo scored 24 goals in 38 outings for the Red Devils after joining them from Juventus last summer for £13.5 million.

His United team, on the other hand, failed to meet expectations, having finished sixth in the Premier League and without a title.

Ronaldo will have to compete in the Europa League rather than the Champions League due to their sixth-place performance. This appears to be what motivated him to depart, along with the thirteen-time Premier League champions’ alleged lack of drive.

The likes of Chelsea, Bayern Munich, and Paris Saint-Germain have all been mentioned as potential suitors. None of the three have expressed a firm interest, and Atletico Madrid seemed to be the team most likely to move first.

According to reports, Diego Simeone’s team would approve a transfer for the Portuguese star provided he agreed to forego his £360,000 weekly salary. The ex-Juventus attacker has one year remaining on his United contract, and despite wanting to leave Old Trafford, it seems more and more probable that he will stay.

In terms of a team that satisfied all of Cristiano Ronaldo’s requirements, Atletico Madrid appeared to be the final contender. Ronaldo’s prospects of leaving United are now less likely as a result of the president of Atletico Madrid’s remarks on the rumors.
