Rocket League gets a welcome update

Rocket League, the hit game from Psyonix is getting enhancements for Next generation consoles. The mash-up of driving and football has been out since 2015 and gathered a large fan base. With the Xbox Series X, Series S and PS5 making it into the hands of more and more gamers, Rocket League gets a fresh coat just in time.

Rocket Pass progress will be carried over to next gen. Users will also retain all the previously earned or purchased items in their inventory. Users can migrate using their Epic Games account in order to maintain progress. The game will also receive a future update which will enable players to toggle the graphics between Quality and Performance. The Xbox Series X and S are the only consoles that will have the graphics mode toggle as of now. Besides these additions players will enjoy much faster loading times and better split screen performance across all next gen consoles.

Rocket League Enhancments

The Xbox Series X runs Rocket League in 4K60FPS with HDR in quality mode, though it requires a 4K and HDR10 compatible TV. In performance mode the Series X will run the game in 2688×1512 at 120FPS with HDR. In order to enjoy all 120 frames per second they will require a compatible display as well.

The Xbox Series S on the other hand will run the game at 1080p with 60FPS and HDR enabled in Quality mode. Performance mode will have the game running at 1344×756 (70% of 1080p) at 120FPS and with HDR enabled.

The PlayStation 5 will run Rocket League at 4K60FPS with HDR. It makes use of the high speed HDMI cable that is bundled with the PS5. It will require a compatible 4K display as well.

Next Gen console owners will definitely enjoy what is a very fun and competitive game with visuals better than ever.
