“He was better, no question about it,” admits Novak Djokovic after shocking defeat against Daniil Medvedev

Novak Djokovic suffered a fourth defeat of the year against Daniil Medvedev at the Nitto ATP Finals. The former committed 22 unforced errors to lose the match 6-3, 6-3.
Djokovic is a 5-time winner of this year-end title. He stands to level up with Roger Federer’s record of 6 if he succeeds to bag the trophy this year.
“He’s getting a taste of his own medicine,” says former World No.1 over Djokovic’s loss

In his post-match press conference, the World No.1 applauded his adversary. “He was just better, no question about it. Serving tremendously well and moving great,” stated Djokovic.
Novak explained that he struggled to find rhythm in the match and that resulted in the dropping of his level. However, he added that since he’s a top player, he “could have and should have done better.”
While his health affected him for 15-20 minutes during the course of the match, Nole also cited Medvedev’s first serve and strong backhand as problem-inducing for himself.
Further, Djokovic is considered to have the greatest backhand in tennis history. Alluding to this, former World No.1 Jim Courier stated, “He’s getting a little taste of his own medicine,” whilst commentating on the match.
Medvedev secured a semi-final spot with this victory over Novak. The latter is still on the prowl for his Round of 4 place. Next, he will clash against 2018 Nitto ATP Finals champion Alexander Zverev tomorrow.
