Carmelo Anthony talks about his new and vital role for the Portland Trail Blazers especially for the upcoming season. Anthony was on the verge on being out of the league after his failed stints with the Houston Rockets and Oklahoma City Thunder. Given his injury and low offensive rate all doors seemed closed. But the Trail Blazers showed one last faith in him, gave him a chance to bounce back.

Anthony had a pretty average regular 2019-20 season. But as in when the season restarted in Orlando Bio-Bubble, Anthony just hit his veteran form. Not only being the third scorer for the Trail Blazers. But provided support to Damian Lillard and CJ McCollum with his experience. Anthony came off the bench for the Portland side against Sacramento Kings in their first pre-season match of 2020-21 season. Where his performance not only won the game, but also glimmered a ray of hope to his side.

“A different emotion, it’s basketball” Carmelo Anthony on accepting role from bench

“I went out there approaching the game the same way. It’s basketball skill reasons coming off the bench, It’s what’s best for the actual team in this environment. It was a different emotion, a different feeling, but once you get past that, it’s basketball.”

Anthony has lost many co-stars over the years in LaMarcus Aldridge, Nicolas Batum (when he was good), and others. But now with CJ, Melo, Jusuf Nurkic, and Robert Covington, this team is looking dangerous.

The Western Conference is a blood-bath this season, and Portland would want to be in the Playoffs at the end of the day. In a seven-game series, any team with Damian Lillard has a shot at winning. Given the kind of form Carmelo Anthony continues, this Portland could be as hot as fire in the regular season. Hopefully, this season comes good for this perennial playoff team.
