Lloyd Harris, the twenty four year old South African from the city of Cape Town has seen his world flip upside down in a matter of weeks. From not going beyond the first or second round to now reaching the finals of the Dubai Open 2021, life has taken a complete U-turn for Harris.

In a courtside interview, Lloyd talks about how he put in the hard work day in and day out hoping for a break like this. He says that to have so many good matches is a fantastic feeling and he looks forward to the Finals of the ATP 500 event. 

Lloyd Harris says, “I’ve kind of been waiting for some results like this. To have so many of them in one week is a fantastic feeling.”

Harris started the year with a third round appearance at the Australian open 2021, where he lost the third round against Mackenzie McDonald of the USA. His next tournament was the Singapore Open, where was defeated in the round of 32 by  Adrian Andreev.

In the Qatar Open which followed, Harris got ousted in the round of 16, but not before he had defeated Stan Wawrinka in the round of 32, the score line 7-6 6-7 7-5. He took that confidence of beating a former Grand Slam Champion like Stan into the Dubai open.

In the Dubai open Harris shone bright as he took on and defeated players like Dominic Thiem, Kei Nishikori and Denis Shapovalov to reach the Finals of the Dubai open 2021. With his big booming serves and his hard hitting ground shots Harris has left a great impression in the minds of all those watching him. He has also shown that he can fight back and has the temperament to succeed at the highest level.
