The much awaited Bellator Featherweight World Grand Prix Semi-Finals matchup between A.J. McKee and Darrion Caldwell got over in a jiffy. A.J. McKee submitted Darrion Caldwell via. a very unorthodox neck crank in the very first round. The win saw ‘The Mercenary’ A.J. McKee advance to the Bellator Featherweight World Grand Prix Finals where he will probably be facing the consensus Bellator GOAT Patricio ‘Pitbull’ Freire.

It was Darrion Caldwell who grounded A.J McKee soon after the bell rang, a grounded McKee landed some elbows before locking him with what people are calling the McKee lock. By submitting Caldwell, A.J. McKee still remains unbeaten in his professional MMA career, as only the ‘Pitbull‘ stands between him and the title. The 25 year-old had a lot to say in his post-fight interview.

Speaking about the fight McKee said, “I like to put a lot of leverage. You know me, it’s all about the angles. You have the right angle, you can make anything work.”

A.J. McKee also said that he was slowly realizing his childhood dream, before going on to call out Patricio Freire. “That’s the beginning of the beginning. A childhood dream. I wrote myself a million dollar check, and I look forward to cashing it. ‘Pitbull,’ even if you don’t make it, I’m coming for my 50-pound title. It’s nothing personal, it’s just business. You’ve got great accolades, but I’m the new era, the new wave,” McKee said.
