In the second T20I between India and England, the former posted a challenging total of 170/8 on Saturday, July 9 at Edgbaston in Birmingham.
England had won the toss and opted to bowl first. India started their innings with the openers Rohit Sharma and team wicket-keeper Rishabh Pant. Rohit scored 31 off 20 balls with three fours and two sixes before Richard Gleeson sent him back. Gleeson bowled a short ball after seeing Rohit dancing down the track and the latter looked to pull it but got a top edge. The ball went behind the keeper but Jos Buttler ran behind and grabbed a brilliant diving catch. Gleeson then dismissed Pant when he had scored 26 off 15 balls with four fours and a six at a strike rate of 173.33.
Virat Kohli was Gleeshan’s next wicket. Kohli walked back cheaply after scoring one run off three balls. Suryakumar Yadav scored 15 runs off 11 balls before Chris Jordan’s slightly shorter ball made Kumar miscue it completely and the top edge made the ball go towards mid-wicket and Sam Curran caught it after running.
Chris Jordan then dismissed Hardik Pandya when he scored 12 off 15 balls. At this time India were staggering at 89/5 before all saw a Ravindra Jadeja show. Jadeja played some interesting cricket when he scored an unbeaten 46 runs off just 29 balls including five fours at an impressive strike rate of 158.62. Dinesh Karthik had to walk back after a run out by Harry Brook.
English bowler Gleeshan picked up three wickets while Jordan scalped four wickets.
India is leading the three-match T20I series by 1-0 and will be looking to win it in this match.
