Renowned commentator, Aakash Chopra named his ideal playing XI for Royal Challengers Bangalore in IPL 2020, on Thursday. The former cricketer has picked Virat Kohli as his star performer in the team.

Chopra has gone with Aaron Finch and Devdutt Padikkal as the two openers for RCB. Parthiv Patel, who had a great season last year, has missed out in Chopra’s playing XI. Devdutt Padikkal has been in an impressive form of late. In T20s, he has scored 580 runs in 12 matches at an average and strike rate of 64.44 and 175.75 respectively.

At number three, is RCB skipper, Virat Kohli. Virat has been a prolific run-scorer for the side over the years. The fans would expect him to make better decisions as captain and win the elusive trophy for the side this year.

AB De Villiers holds the number four spot. With Parthiv not in the side, AB de Villiers would keep wickets in Chopra’s XI. The middle-order consists of all-rounders such as Moeen Ali, Shivam Dube, Chris Morris and Washington Sundar at number 5, 6, 7 and 8 respectively. Moeen Ali fared pretty well last season both with bat and ball. Moeen Ali’s performance in the tournament would hold great importance if RCB fancy their chances in the tournament.

It would also be interesting to see how Shivam Dube and Washington Sundar perform in the tournament. Both have now had a decent experience at the international level.

Chopra went with a lone specialist spinner in Yuzvendra Chahal. Chahal has 100 wickets to his name in 84 matches for the side. Unarguably, he would be one of the biggest bets for RCB this season.

In the bowling department, the 42-year old commentator went with Navdeep Saini as a confirmed pick. The eleventh spot would be filled anyone between Mohammad Siraj and Umesh Yadav.
