The New York Yankees manager Aaron Boone and team executive Brian Cashman spoke about the team’s performance in 2024. The team started strong in the regular season games, but by mid-June, they hit a slump and barely managed to keep themselves afloat amidst the tense October race.
Notable players who played a crucial role during this period, including the team’s recent joinee, Jazz Chisholm Jr., Aaron Judge, Giancarlo Stanton, and Juan Soto‘s incredible records, lifted the team to ALCS victory. Moreover, Stanton’s comeback in the latter half of the season proved to be one of the team’s crucial turning points.
With the World Series starting on Friday, the team is currently preparing for its battle against its old nemesis, the Los Angeles Dodgers. Cashman noted that Stanton represented the team in his own way. Noting how Stanton was booed for his slump, but again celebrated during his comeback.
Yankees were almost in the same state, as fans chanted ‘fire Aaron Boone‘ during the team’s slump period. Boone noted that since 2009, it’s been the first time the Yankees have participated in WS.
Core players role in Yankees slump lifted the team to World Series for the first time in 15 years
Some of the core players of the team in 2024 were – Juan Soto, Aaron Judge, Giancarlo Stanton, and Jazz Chisholm Jr. While Judge and Soto’s stable yet record-breaking performance boosted the team to victory, it was also partly thanks to the organization for making crucial trade during the free market.
Within days of acquiring Chisholm Jr., he lifted the team to consecutive victory and boosted the morale of the team as a whole. The celebrations were further lifted by Stanton’s comeback performance from his slumping season to October game achievements.

On the other hand, many doubted Soto’s addition to the team, but he proved his worth time and again. Cashman noted that he never doubted Soto and Stanton’s acquisition.
In fact, they became irreplaceable among the team with their effort. The only thing remaining now is re-signing Soto before he hits free agency. But for now, the focus remains on WS.
