New York Yankees manager Aaron Boone makes a risky roster move as it becomes official that baseman Jon Berti will be out of the lineup in the World Series due to a hip flexor injury. He suffered from the injury during Game 4 of the ALCS against the Cleveland Guardians.

The team thought he would be better during the gap he got between the ALCS and World Series, but it has yet to recover and has restricted a lot of his movements. Unfortunately, he won’t be able to face the Los Angeles Dodgers in the hyped World Series.

This means the team will suffer infield depth during the Fall Classic. Due to his absence, Nestor Cortes will join the roster in the open spot right now. On the other hand, first baseman Anthony Rizzo is still dealing with side effects from two fractured fingers.

We were hoping a few days would help. He had a chance to play…and be an important part of, especially, the bench mix. It’s a blow. It sucks.

Although Rizzo is back in the lineup, he won’t be playing all the innings in the World Series. For now, the team will be relying on outfielders like Jasson Dominguez, Trent Grisham and utility player Oswaldo Cabrera

Nestor Cortes “ready for whatever’s needed” for Yankees in World Series

Since recovering from a left flexor strain, NY Yankees pitcher Nestor Cortes has practiced in a simulated game earlier this week and is ready for the bullpen. However, he has yet to pitch in an official game since September 18, which has Aaron Boone a bit worried.

Cortes emphasized saying lefty matchups are the “best runway” for him and “I’m ready for whatever’s needed” by the team. He is confident to go out and play his best, as the World Series is what everyone hopes to participate in, and he’s not going to let it slip.

We know the risks, but if I end up with a ring and need time off, that’s a price I’d pay.

Unfortunately, “time just ran out” for Jon Berti, who will miss the World Series game. However, the team is hyped up to face the LA Dodgers and bring the Championship Cup back to their city. It’ll also allow Berti to be part of the celebration and get a ring if the Yankees win the World Series.
