As the offseason rolls on, several teams have splashed the cash and added some players to the roster. The one team that has not made many major moves so far is the New York Yankees. Amid this slow start, manager Aaron Boone sent a message to the Yankees fans regarding this.
The Bronx Bombers suffered another playoff disappointment as they lost against the Toronto Blue Jays. After losing the American League East title to the Blue Jays, they got crushed 3-1 in the American League Division Series (ALDS) by the Canadian team.
As the offseason begin, the team lost some of their players from the roster to free agency. Apart from re-signing Amed Rosario, the other major signing the team has done is of Trent Grisham.
The outfielder had an impressive campaign with the bat last time out and crossed the 30-home run mark for the first time in his career. The team extended the $22 million qualifying offer to him after the season ended. He would accept this offer and rejoin the team.
Meanwhile, the team has lost two of their bullpen members in Devin Williams and Luke Weaver. Williams, who struggled in the 2025 season, joined their cross-town rivals, the New York Mets on a 3-year, $51 million deal.
Earlier this week, Weaver joined him. The 32-year-old, who worked as a relief pitcher for the Yankees, joined the Mets on a 2-year, $22 million deal.
One player the Yankees are actively looking to bring back is Cody Bellinger. The former National League MVP also impressed with his bat and his fielding abilities. While the team are very interested in re-signing him, there has been no major progress between the two parties.
As a result of this, the Yankees fans have been become a little impatient and frustrated. While handing food and toys to local families at the NYPD’s 44th Precinct in the Bronx, Aaron Boone broke his silence.
The Yankees manager claimed that the team is “probably not finished” regarding the offseason and expressed that they will be really good and ready.
It’ probably not finished, there’ll be tweaks I’m sure up until the spring training… It always takes more than just us to tango… my expectation is that we’re going to be really good and that’s how we’ll prepare.
Aaron Boone said as per Greg Joyce
Aaron Boone will enter his 9th season with the Yankees next season. He has a 697-497 record in 1,194 regular-season games at the helm. In this, he has taken them to the postseason in all but one season in 2023.
Aaron Boone claims Yankees have not meet with Tatsuya Imai
The New York Yankees are one of the teams that are looking to add a top arm to their pitching rotation. They are also one of the teams that has been linked with a move for Japanese star Tatsuya Imai. However, as per Aaron Boone, the Yankees have not met with the player yet.

Imai is one of the top free agents this offseason. The right-handed pitcher had a fantastic season in 2025 with the Seibu Lions. He went 10-5 and pitched with a low ERA of 1.92 while picking up 178 strikeouts in 24 games in the Nippon Professional Baseball (NPB).
During the event on Friday, reporters would ask Boone whether the team had met the ace pitcher. The Yankees manager shook his head no and expressed that the team have not met him and does not have any meeting with him scheduled yet.

Teams have until January 2 to sign him. Once his window closes, he will return to the Japanese league. The pitcher previously told the media in his country that he would like to take down Shohei Ohtani, Yoshinobu Yamamoto and the Los Angeles Dodgers, thus likely ruling out a move to the LA-based side.
