In a pre-game verbal joust ahead of the pivotal NFC Divisional Round clash between the Los Angeles Rams and the Philadelphia Eagles, former Rams defensive stalwart Aaron Donald and ex-Eagles running back LeSean McCoy had a spirited exchange. The duo confidently predicted their former teams’ triumph and subsequent advancement to the NFC Championship game.
The Los Angeles Rams made fun of the Minnesota Vikings, who came into the postseason riding on a 14-win season. The Rams iterated their regular-season win over the Vikings through a defensive showcase.
Meanwhile, the Philadelphia Eagles had a similar defensive extravaganza as they eliminated the Green Bay Packers in the wild-card round. They forced three interceptions off the Packers starting quarterback Jordan Love, in addition to a costly fumble in the beginning.
LeSean McCoy posted the interaction to X with a caption announcing their 50,000 bets.
Later in the video, Donald momentarily silenced McCoy by walking over to his trophy case and displaying a replica of the Lombardi Trophy, earned by Donald and Los Angeles after their Super Bowl victory over the Cincinnati Bengals in February 2022.
LeSean McCoy had won two Super Bowls towards the end of his career. Nonetheless, he recorded zero carries in either game. The former Eagles player wasn’t a part of the championship-winning Eagles team either.

Rams’ young defensive unit trying to fill the void left by Aaron Donald
Los Angeles’ long-time favorite Aaron Donald retired in 2024, leaving the Rams with a huge task ahead of the offseason. Adding firepower to the now-weakened defensive unit was indeed one of the biggest challenge they had during the offseason.
The new defensive unit had its troubles, especially in the second game of the season, when they surrendered 489 total yards. The unit seemingly has learned from its drawbacks and improvised on their errors, considering that they have held the opponents to fewer than 10 points in five of their last six games.
In 2024, the Rams selected red-hot outside linebacker Jared Verse with the No. 19 pick and traded up to No. 39 to draft his Florida State teammate, defensive tackle Braden Fiske. Combined with defensive tackle Bobby Brown III and outside linebacker Michael Hoecht, the Rams’ defensive front has significantly strengthened since the season’s start.
The Rams were more than able to hold their fort, but did suffer some damage as well. The Rams’ defense sacked Sam Darnold for nine sacks, a record for any major franchise quarterback. As they play the Eagles with one of the most dangerous offensives, the Rams hope for similar prowess.
